Meets The June meeting of the W.M.S. was held in the schoolroom of the church on Tuesday afternoon, June 10th. The meeting was opened by singing hymn 502, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. The president, Mrs. W. Skinner, presided over the business. The minutes of. the 'Pre vious meeting were read -and adopt ed. The roll -call was -answered with 'the title of a favorite hymn. The treasurer’ gave -a report. The Mis sionary Monthly, the Temperance and the Christian Stewardship sec retaries reported -on their work. It was decided that the Mission and Baby Bands would be entertained by the W.M.S. at their July meet ing. Mrs. W.. Bowden presided over the devotional part of the pro-gram. Hymn 54 was sung followed by Scripture reading by Mrs. J. Blair. Mrs. W. Bowden offered prayer and the Bible study was read by Mrs. Blair, Mrs. Skinner and Mrs, F. Bowden. Hymn 501, “Gardens of Friendliness” was read from the Missionary Monthly. A playlet, “Adventures in Friendship” Was put on by Mrs. W. Bowden, Mrs. W. Skinner, Mrs. C, Skinner, Mrs. Blair Mrs. R. Smith and Mrs. F. Bowden. The president closed the meeting with the benediction. A dainty lunch was served by Mrs. C. Skin ner and Mrs. Blair. Meeting of W.A. The June meeting of the Women’s Association was held in the school room ^of the church on Thursday afternoon, June 5th, with, the pre sident, Mrs. O. Brown, presiding. The meeting was opened by the use of hymn 438. The Beatitudes were read in unison and a short business session followed, after which the afternoon was spent in Red -Cross sewing an-d, kniitting'. MicGee, for 32 years a resident of London, and formerly of Biddulph Township, died Mon day night at the family .home, 154 Mill, Street, London, He was in his 70th year, Mr. McGee was born in Biddulph. For many years Jhe work ed at the G.P.R. freight sheds, re tiring in 1936. Surviving are his wife, two sons and three daughters. Sunoco Service and Garage was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carroll, concession 4. There were over fif ty present. Supper was served on the lawn, A program of sports fol lowed in which all took part. Ball and other games were played un til darkness drove them to the hduse where an impromptu concert provided much pleasure for all. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Appleton vis ited Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Tetreau, of Grand Bend. Several families from .here at tended the Union Sunday School picnic held at Grand Bend on Sat urday and report a good time. Mr. John Pickering, of Parkhill, and Mr. Cecil Pickering, of Grand Bend, spent Sunday with their moth er, Mrs. Thomas Cotsant. The sawmill, operated by Mr. Dean Brown, of Greenway, and sit uated on Mr. Gordon Ulen’s farm, west of Corbett, is being moved to a new site directly across the -road on Mr. Wilbert Young’s f-arm. June 24th a social evening will be held in Grace Church Parish Hall, Greenway. Tickets will be drawn on a tulip quilt. Strawber ries will be served for lunch. Every one welcome. June 26th, Red Cross ladies are quilting three quilts at Greenway. Be sure to come and do your bit to help. Mrs. Garfield Steeper visited Mr. Charlie Hodgins, of Grand Bend on Saturday, (Intended for last week) Miss Lorraine Taylor, of Grand Bend visited her aunt, Mrs. Milton Pollbck, .recently. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Patterson, of Grand Bend spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Woodburn family. Mrs. Alex Webster and sons bert and Donald, of Detroit, her mother, Mrs. McPhee, of Carmel, spent Friday with Mr. Mrs. Garfield Steeper and Lyle. Master Norman Hodgins, small son of MA and Mrs. Henry Hodgins, fell, breaking his left arm at the elbow. Dr. Batesoh, of Parkhill, had him removed to London Hos pital, where an’ X-ray Was taken and the arm put in a cast. We are glad to see Hugh Ryan out driving after his long confine ment. Baseball is the topic with the Cor bett team. Mrs. Wilbert Young attended the fuheral of her sister, Mrs. McIn tosh, of Windsor, Mr. Robert Hodgins, of London, spent the week-end under the par ental roof. • Master Ivan Hodgins- and sister, Anna Margaret Hodgins visited Lyle Steeper on Saturday afternoon. Hensall, going west with her .par ents to reside in Frobisher, Sask, Later she moved to Winnipeg and was married there in 1931.
