BAYFIELD — The Christmas
meeting of First Bayfield. Cub
Pack was held on December 17
in Trinity parish hall; parents
and members of the Ladies
Auxiliary to the Scouts and
Cubs were invited to attend.
Although held at the regular
hour, changes from the regular
program were immediately ap-
parent.
After the Grand Howl and
the opening prayer a portion of
the program was devoted to
normal activities but with an
extra Six drawn first from Cub
mothers and then from Cub
fathers. The Cubs proved a lit-
tle more agile than the impro-
vised. Six each time.
Following the regular Cub
meeting, the First Bayfield
Pack of 10 Cubs presented a
delightful program under the
direction of Cubmaater Jack
Gallant and his assistants,
Scout Nigel Bellchamber and

"A quiet wedding took place
at the Clinton rectory on
Thursday afternoon, December
18 when Miss Velvirda Pearl,
only daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Farquhar of the Gravel
Road, Hullett Township, was
united in marriage to Mr.
John G. Woon, of the Bayfield
Road."
That was a description of
the Woon-Farquhar wedding in
the December 26, 1913 issue
of the Clinton News - Record,
but the events marking the
couple's 50th wedding annivers-
ary was anything but "quiet".
Friends and neighbours of
the Hullett Township couple
meth the Stunmerhill Hall on
Guide Shirley Pierson.
Following this they had their
Christmas tree and exchange of
gifts. There was also a gift on
the tree for each small visitor,
And the mothers and each LA
member received a box of
candy as the Cubs' Christmas
"good turn.P
On display were nativity
creches which the Cubs had
made themselves out of paper
and pasteboard.
Following the closing pray-
er, which was read by the rec-
tor, Rev, E. J. B. Harrison, the
Cubs surprised the ladies, pre-
senting each one with a gift
and the greeting "Happy
Christmas Mother".
Many weeks of careful plan-
ning by Cubmaster J. H. Gal-
lant were 'evident throughout
the evening and the ladies were
obviously touched by the de-
light shown in the face of each
Cub as he presented his gift.
Mrs. W. Pierson, president
of the Ladies Auxiliary,,thank-
ed Cubmaster Gallant, and the
Cub helpers, for a most inter-
esting evening and compliment-
ed him on another fine year's
work.
The evening concluded with
refreshments served by the
Ladies Auxiliary.
