I really wasn't too much dis-
turb.ed with their story. It
sounded hhe a good attempt on
the part of some retailers to
condition their customers to a
hike in food prices, However,
I got a shock about a week
later.
At a meeting I was amazed
to, find a farmer, now employ-

Mating the • same theory. He
even went on. to substantiate
his argument by quoting Dr.
Patterson, of the Ontario De-
p.artment. of Agriculture as
stating some years ago -that
this shortage of food would
come in the mid-sixties when
the .herse would be completely
replaced by the tractor.
We all realize that a great
many acres of production were
necessary to provide feed for
horses. This land xis now being

difference in our present costs
and these of 1951.

Yet the assessment is the same.
If I ware to compare costs of , machinery, repairs," (lathes,

between prices and costs wo'u'ld
be even more glaring.
What can be done afbout it?
1965 seems to have proved that
farmers don't sincerely want
to improve their situation by
co-operatively doing a selling
