Tie Bible Today
The following extract from a
letter written recently by MIss
K. L, Holmes-Libbis of the
Bible Societies in 'the Congo, re,
\Teals something of the situation
in that country;
"There seems to be a new
spirit and new life in Congo
recently, and plans are going
ahead in the Protestant mis-
scions.
"Although every church is
packed to overflowing for every
service, it is estimated that at
least .90% of the population is
unevangelized. What a breath-
taking challenge! If only the
Soriptures could be prodUced
more Quickly: We just can't
keep a Lingala Testament or
Tshiluba Bible in stock!
Dawn in the.Kasai I was be-
seliged with people pleading for
the Word of God, and in' some
of the big centres, the people •
were actually accusing the mis-
sionaries of withholding the
Scripture from them. There is
such a shortage.
"Unfortunately, the Tshiluba
Bible -took seven months to
reach Congo from the time it
left the packers, but it has
shown us how desperately these
people who have. suffered so
much want God's Word."
