Fifth Meeting
The Holmee.ville 4-H Club
held its fifth( meeting at the
home of Club leader, Mrs. El-
don Yeo. •
The meeting was opened with

bution to health. The secretary,
Marilyn • Rogers read the :inn),
utes of the last. meeting.

safety in the horrie-and outside

aid was discussed -and the
treatment far fainting was out-
lined,
The girls chosen to give a
demonstration at the next meet-
ing were: Cheryl Cox, Nancy
Ginn on First Aid; Janice Tre-
vvartha and Marilyn Rogers on
Artificial Respiration; Heather
Whitley and Sandra Wise on
Safety at home.
The meeting was closed with
the members repeating the
creed.

Fall Bazaar
Held Success
The Sunday School room of
'the Holinesville United Church
was :decorated in a Christmas
fashion for the Annual Fall Ba-
zaar, of the United Church Wo-
men of the church,
The bazaar was opened by
Rev. C, G. Park and guests
were welcomed by the presi-
dent, Mrs. Lloyd Bond. Booths
were formed around the out-
side of the room, and all were
loaded with the 'articles for
sale.
The sewing booth was in the
charge of Mrs. Reg. Miller, as-
sisted by Mrs, Elmer Patter
and Mrs. Harold Yea. At the
Christmas gift and novelty
booth, the gifts and decorations
were sold by Mrs. Edward
Grigg, assisted by Mrs. Francis
Cantelon and Miss Dawn Grigg.
Looking after the candy booth
for 'the Messengers were Mrs,
Ray Potter and Mrs, Gerald
Blake, assisted by Miss Nancy
Ginn,
The produce booth Was in the
charge of Mrs. J. B. 1VracilVfath,
assisted by Mrs. W. Johnston
and Mrs. J. Huller.
The home baking booth which
did heavy business was manag-
ed 'by Mrs. Barrie Walter, as-
sisted by Mrs. Gerry Ginn, Mrs.
Harry Williams, Mrs. Bill Nor-
man and Mrs'. Ninian Heard,
with Mrs. Frank McCullough
the cashier.
The guests were invited to
the tea room by the hostess,
Mrs. Jack Yea. Mrs. Harry
Cuctmore was in change of the
tea tables, assisted by Mrs. D.

butt, Mrs. Ben. Whitely, Mrs.

ton, shown above with his service revolver, finished
second in the individual competition at the Annual
Training Command Pistol Competition held re-
cently. The Clinton Air Force Police Pistol Team
won the event with a score of 140. Team members
were: Sgt. H. F. Preston, Cpls. Lalonde, Gosselin,
Busbarri and Delaney. The RCAF team has chal-
lenged the officers of the Goderich OPP detach-
ment to a competition to be held at the RCAF
Station Clinton ranges at 1 p.m., Nov. 18.

meeting were read and adopt-
ed. Roll call was answered with
the name, of a famous man who
was born on a farm.

rict Director's repont of the
Fall Board Meeting. Mrs. Robt.
Bell gave 'the Treasurer's re-
port. The Cook, Book Report
was given. This showed that
all conk (books were sold and
the top saleswomen were Mrs.
Ross Broadleaf who sold 264,
and Mrs. Maude Hedden, who
sold 150.
The first meeting of the
Block Printing will be held on
Monday, November 30, at 'the
home of Mrs. Vern Alderclice.

Lloyd Cooper will be in charge.
Mrs. John 'Consitt chaired the
pregramme on Agriculture.
Mrs. Charles Eyre spoke on the
topic "Buried seeds will grow
but buried talents never do".

societies and fall fairs. She
reported that the first fall fair
was held in Canada 200 years`

lish Style" was seen through-
out the hall and featured bake
goods, novelties, sewing, and a
curiosity shoppe. The colorful
tea room was in charge of lad-
ies wearing period gowns, bon-
nets 'and stoles,
A 10-year-old miss of the
Park, Beverley Anne Smith,
daughter of Flight Lieutenant
and Mrs. Gerald Smith, took
part in the annual Santa Claus
parade in Toronto on Nov. 14.
Beverley Anne was a bright
candle on the enormous birth-
day cake. This float marked
the 60th anniversary .of ,the
parade in Toronto.
Parents, and friends were
_welcomed into Brownie land
last Wednesday night by Brown
Owl, Mrs. Ben Russell, at the
RCAF Community Centre, to
watch four Tweenies become
Brownies. Terry Peterson, Viv-
ian Thompson, Karen Roman'ko
and Elaine Schewaga . were
brought to the toadstool after
looking into 'the magic pool
while Snowy Owl, Mrs. Jim
Thompson told the Brownie
story.
They repeated their law and
promise for Brown Owl and re-
ceived their pins. Tawny Owl,
Mrs. Mel Banks presented pro-
ficiency badges to Penny Rang-
er, Laureen Thomson, Alpha
Wade, Beverley Smith. and Pain
Duguid.
A pow-pow was led by Hoot
Owl, Mrs. George Sinker for
the entertainment of Brownies
and visitors after which lunch
was served by the 'Local As-
sociation ladies, convened by
Mrs. Paulin and Mrs, Kelley,

with a Brownie -Prayer, the
National Anthem and Brownie

On Nov. 10 at the Commun-
ity 'Centre, 11 girls " were en-
rolled in the Guide moverrient,

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen of
Londesboro were entertained
by their family at a dinner in
London's Iroquois Hotel on
their Silver Wedding Anniver-
sary. The couple also received

Mr. Allen is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas C. Allen,
Exeter, and.. his wife was the
former Genevieve Kerslake,
only daughter of the late Mr.
and. Mrs. Walter Kerslake.
The couple was , married on
Nov. 11, 1939, at Kirkton, 'and
following their marriage they
lived in Farquhar until corning
to Londesboro in 1947,
Their three children include
Mel Graham, Gloria, Mrs. Wayne Jackson, of
Returning Officer. Ridgetown; Karen in, London,
47-8b and son Keith, at home. They
have ono grandchild.
