one of Clinton's most ardent
golfers, recently brought home
a beautiful trophy Which he
won at the Pine Valley golf
course in Toronto.
Bey Won the truckers tourney
and the "Motor Truck Club"
trophy, which has been in
competition since 1940, and
on which is inscribed some very
well known golf names,
Previous to that, Bev came in
second in a truckers tournament
at the Thames Valley golf
course at London.

In Winning Run;
Take Five In Row
The Clinton Bantams scored
seven runs in the fourth inning
to defeat the New Hamburg
team 11-2 in their opening game
of the season here on Friday,
June 26.
Don Bartliff, on the around
for Clinton, struck out 12 New
Hamburg batters and held the
visitors to only two hits over
the seven inning course.
The following night, the boys
travelled to .Mitchell where they
trounced the host 'team 20-7.
Don Bartliff came through
again last Thursday night as he
held the visiting Mitchell team
to one hit and struck out 1.2
batters in a game that ended
with. Clinton out in 'front, 12-1.
On Saturday, the local boys
headed for Goderich where they
squeezed by the home team
11-9.
On Tuesday, the Goderich
scinad returned the visit and
went down to a 10-1 defeat as
Bartliff struck out eleven more
batters.

The UCW of Grace United
Church met on Wednesday last
at the home of Mrs. Ray Cox.
The president, Mrs, William
Cox, was in charge of the „meet-
ing.
The scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. William Townshend,
and. Mrs. Wilmer Riddell led
in prayer. A chapter in the
Study Book, "Man Before God"
was taken by Mrs. Austin HarL.

weeks, has returned by ship
and is now at her home in
Port Elgin.
Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Foss and
daughter Joan, of Ottawa, were
last week guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter F.' Smith.
Mr, and Mrs. Garth Postill
and family spent last Thursday
in Torontd.
Guests at the F. G, McAlis-
ter home the past week were;
Miss. Munn; Professor of Edu-
cation at Hood College, Fred-
erick, Maryland, and Miss El-
eanor McRoberts, who teaches
in the Bishop Townshend Sch-
ool in London. Also Rev. Alf-
red McAlister of the United
Church, Dunclas Ont., spent a
two day visit at the home. Mr.
and Mrs. McAlister, who are on
a 2-week visit in Los Angeles,
are expected home soon. Mean-
while their daughter, Mrs. Rob-
ert Williams of New York City
is taking over the duties of
hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Riddell
and daughter Heather, of Tor-
onto, were last weekend visit-
ors of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer
Riddell.

Gerald Cameron Deline of 89
John Street, Clinton, died on
Thursday, June 25th, in God-
erich.
Mr. Deline had been unwell
for the past 9 years, after a car
accident in October of 1955 at
the RCAF 'station.
Mr. Deline had been in the
Clinton area for the past 11
years, and was with the RCAF
for sixteen years, where be was
a clerk accountant„He had
been a member of Ontario St.
United Church.
Mr. Deline was born •in 1907
in Harrowsmith in Prontenac
County.
Mr. Deline married Marion
Ferguson on June 23rd in 1941
in Harrowsmith.
He is survived by his widow,
4 sons, Cameron, Douglas, Gary
and Dennis and 2 daughters,
Cathy and Holly, all at home.
Also surviving are his father,
Roy Deline of Harrowsmith and
three brothers, John,- Neil and
George, of Harrowsmith. Mr.
Deline's mother predeceased
him.
The funeral took place on
Saturday, June 27th at 2 p.m.
in Beattie Funeral Home, with
the Rev. Grant Mills of Ontar-
io Street United Church offic-

Clinton.
