Province Shares
Under the Homemakers and
Nurses Service Act ,effective
August 1, 1958, the Province
sharps with municipalities the
cost of providing essential
home care services to families
and individuals in the home.
Families are .assisted to remain
together during a period of
need or emergency,
Elderly and handicapped per-
sons are enabled to continue to
live in their own homes even
though requiring specialized
care. This can be considered a
workable alternative .to hospi-
talization, foster homes or in-
stitutional care.
The Province shares with
municipalities 50 percent of the
cost up to $2.50 per visit for
nursing services and up to $8
per day or $1, an hour for a
homemaker.
The committee looking into
it here suggested that a start
might be made in Goderich and
adjoining area,

be able to view a wider choice
of television programs follow-
ing the change on Sunday
from the CBC network to the
CTV setup by CKCO-TV in
Kitchener-Waterloo.
Although m,o s t residents
have been able , to receive all
three area stations—Wingham,
London and Kitchener—there
was little choice in programs
as they were all affiliated with
the CBC.
However, Kitchener will now
be carrying an entirely differ-
ent schedule of programs and
there will be no duplication
with them and the two area
CBC stations.
One of the features of the
CTV programming will be the
showing of NHL hockey games
from Toronto on Wednesday
nights at 8:30 p,m., a half hour
after game timse.
This will give fans an oppor-
tunity to watch the Montreal
Canadiens in action as well, as
all their games with Toronto
are played on Wedensday
nights, due to the fact both
Canadian teams have Saturday
nights as home games as well.
Big Four football will be car-
ried on both channels during
' the weekends, but only Kitch-
ener will show mid-week gam-
es, Their-first one was shown
on Mondalr night from Van-
couver.
Also of interest to sports fans
will be the televising of Junior
"A" hockey 'from Kitchener on.
Sunday afternoons during the
coming. season.
Some of the major programs
to be seen on CTV will be
Arrest and Trial, a 90-minute
show on Sunday night and an-
other 90-minute production on
Monday, the new series of
Wagon Train.
Dr. Kildare has also been
switched to CTV arid will be
seen on Mondays and Alfred
Hitchcock will be seen on
Tuesday nights.
Jack Paar will be a feature
on Thursday and The Best of
Groucho (Marx) will be seen
on Saturday. Opposing the
CBC NHL hockey on. Saturday
night also will be a top motion
picture.
Other new programs include:
1VIcHale's Navy, Walt Disney,
Harry's Girls, Sports Hot Seat,
Burke's Law, Mr. Ed., Farmer's
Daughter and Outer Limits.
"What the, change really
means to your readers is that
they now have a wider selec-
tion of programs," the News-
Record was told by William
Whiting, promotion director of
CKCO-TV, in a telephone con-
versation on Monday.
