RCAF Station Clinton will
say goodbye in mid-August
to Wing Commander Ian

is transferred to SHAPE
(Supreme Headquarters Al-
lied Powers Europe). ,
W/C Gillean was born in
Montreal and graduated from
McGill University in 1940
with a Bachelor of Engineer-
ing degree. Upon graduation
he was commissioned in the
RCAF and spent the war
years as an instructor at No:
1 and No. 3 Wireless Schools.
After the end of World
War II he left the air force
and worked for Canadian
Marconi, Montreal. He re-
jOined the service in 1948
and went to Air Materiel
Command. In 1951 he was
seconded to the Inspector
Generals Agency until 1954,
when he was posted to Air
Force Headquarters. After
Staff College in 1957, he re-
turned to Air Materiel Com-

ner meeting in St. Paul's
Church parish hall.
Early in /the meeting, past
president E. Beecher Menzies
spoke of the "service" rendered
by the late Lion Hugh R. Haw-
kins, a past president, who had
been tail twister for many
years. Lion Menzies said "Lion
Hugh was one of our most
valued members, and most ac-
tive, He lived in the noblest
tradition of service, not only
in Lionism, but in all his varied
activities." The club observed
a period of silence in tribute to
its late member.
George Lavis suggested that
the club incorporate something
into its by-laws to cover pro-
cedure at the time of death
and funeral of members. A.
"Red" Garon requested that
Mr. Lavis' suggestion be a mo-
tion, which he would second, to
have the club executive act on.
Lion Garon told how he and
other officers contacted Lions
to,attend Mr. Hawkins' funeral
and form a guard of honor out-
side the church. Twenty-eight
Lions turned out.
The business part of the
meeting was scheduled as a
"beef night" out of which came
many suggestions.
Gladstone Grigg won both
the regular and special draw
prizes.
