Airmen Had A
Special Party
Before Christmas
RCAF — More than sugar-
plums danced through the
heads of trainees at the Air-
men's Christmas party at RCAF
Clinton Recreation Centre on
the evening of December 14!
Much nicer than sugar plums
were the four cute little San-
ta's Helpers in the persons of
LAW's Denise Larue, Jo-Ann
Van Vliet, Lois Hill and Pat
`Muir.
The fetching young ladies
were dressed in leotards and
Christmas costumes to help old
Santa, who was impersonated
for the evening by WO1 Jack
Reid, the Station Warrant Of-
ficer at RCAF Clinton.
A crowd of over 1,200 train-
ees packed the hall, and sat,
cabaret style, to enjoy the en-
tertainment provided by the
amateur groups of airmen.
F/L the Rev. R. E. Bussey,
RC chaplain, acted as Master
of ceremonies, with the assist-
ance of F/O Dick Allen, the
St a t i o n Recreation Officer.
W/C H. C. Vinnicombe, Chief
Administrative Officer, gave an
address of welcome to the aud-
ience.
A panel of judges, who spent
part of the time dancing the
Twist with Santa's Elves, con-
sidered that the Cowboy Singer
LAC "Tex" McKenzie, was the
winner of the amateur contest.
"Tex" repeated some, of the
numbers he performed over
CKNX-TV Wingham, where he
appeared recently on Anna
MacDonald's show. The crowd
roared its approval of the en-
tire programme, and obviously
approved Father Bussey's pro-
gramme as highly as the Billy
O'Connor Show.
Appearing on the programme
was Ross Dawe, pianist, and
several instrumental groups:
the Esquires—Kurt Arsenault,
J. Buchanan and W. G. Ryan,
and the Mixers Six: B. L. East-
wood, B. M. Welwood, R. W.
Dickson, V. T. Lloyd, G. T. O'-
Brien and S. D. Dahl.
An added attraction was an
Hawaiian act, performed by
F/L "Cam" Wright, who also
moved a vote of thanks to
Father Bussey for the interest
he takes in airmen's activities.

Unrau.
The bride is the .daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Thompson,
Clinton, while the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Un-

Park Baptist Church, London,
officiated at the double-ring
ceremony and the bride was
given in marriage by her fath-
er.
She was dressed in a gown of
frosted miromist styled on the
asymmetric line, sweeping in
folds to the side and caught
with appliques of hand run
alencon lace, jewelled in cry-

The back of the gown swept
into a chapel train and the
fingertip veil of French silk il-
lusion fell from a contoured
band of sprays of pearls and
rhinestones.

bouquet of gardenias, steph-

day,
,And, it marked the first time
that many in the audience had
been able to sit down and
watch the popular group in ac-
tion, as the occasion was the
annual party for the band
members and their parents and
friends.
The films were taken by
bandmaster :George Wonch, and
showed the musicians in action
at the 1951 band festival in
Waterloo and also at the Santa
Claus parades at Clinton and
Seaforth,
Wonch told the group he
hoped to make films of all their
appearances this year, pointing
out it was a good method to
show their progress.
This was vividly pointed out
in the film and the members
noticed a vast improvement in
their recent appearances in
comparison to the earlier par-
ade in Waterloo.
Outlining some of the future
engagements, the bandmaster
reported the group would per-
format several "top calibre"
events at RCAF Clinton, the
CNE and also a number of
band tattoos in Western On-
tario.
He urged the members to
make a New Year's resolution
to attend as many practices as
possible to ensure a good per-
formance at these functions,
"We need a good attendance
to accomplish what we have
set up", he pointed out. '
Honor Top Members
Following the films, the band
organizers distributed several
prizes to the top members for
their improvement and faith-
fulness during the past year.

auditorium, the bride's mother

liven dress with a inat,21-nng
flowered hat and a corsage of
yellow roses.
She was assisted by the
groom's mother, attired in a
