Large crowds attended the
anniversary services in Bruce -
field United Church on Sun-
day, when the Rev. A. G. Pease
of Bayfield, was guest speak-
er. He delivered two impres-
sive and informative addresses,
In the morning the choir con-
tributed two anthems, under tale
direction of choir leader Mrs.
John R. Murdoch. In the even-
ing, the Pilgrim Singers, a lad-
ies sextet from Clinton, pro-
vided special numbers.

The Huron Presbytery Mis-
sionary and Maintenance Rally
was . held in Londesboro on
Wednesday evening, October 24
wtih a good attendance. The
highlight of the evening was
the address given by Rev. Wal-
ton B. Tonge, B.A, :B.D , of
Chung Chi College, Hong Kong.
The address was accompanied
by an interesting film entitled
"Hong Kong, •the Misery and
the Splendour".
An address, "Tackling the
Challenge of M. & M. in the
local church" was given. by Rev.
Robert G. Trimble, B.A., B.D.
A social cup of tea was served
by the local ladies.
The Masonic banquet on Fri-
day evening was catered to by
the United Church Women.
About 80 plates were served. A
good program by local talent
was enjoyed.

new house arrived on Friday
and will soon be ready for oc
cupancy, The Kernahan Co.,
London, has the contract.

away in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal on Saturday, October 27,
where she had been a patient
for some weeks, having suffer-
ed several strokesdenting the
summer. In her 70th year, • she

and was highlythought of in
the village where she had re-
sided with cher husband for a
number of years.

Musicale
The concert musicale in
Hensall United Church on Sun-
day, October 28 was presented
by the three choirs to a packed
church under the direction of
Mrs. Robert Pryde, choir lead-
er and organist, with every
number outstanding, showing
great musical talent with cred-
it to their leader and singers.
The choirs were assisted by
guest artists Miss Gail Atwell,
St. Marys, and the Woodham
male quartet.
Mrs. Pryde's rendition of
Polonaise (Chopin) Op. 53 on
the piano, and Rondo in G
(John Bull), arranged by R.
Ellsasser on the pipe organ
were beautiful and many fine
comments were heard. Their
closing number, "The Battle
Hymn Of The Republic" was a
fitting climax showing great
ability. Hope for a repeat of
this delghtiful concert has been
expressed by many people.
During luncheon, served by
the United Church Women, Mrs,
Pryde was presented with a
crystal candy dish. Harry Hor-
ton made the presentation. Be-
fore the service Mrs. Pryde
had been presented with a cor-
sage. The offering for the New
Christian Educational Wing a-
mounted to $203.

of Mrs. Edward Noeminton, a
well knewa and highly esteem-
ed resident of the village„ She
died ;suld'denly in Woodstock
General Hosrpital on October 25.
She had been visiting with
her sans-inr-law and daughter,

a heart seizure • and was rushed

for William Gideon Griffiths,
late of 194 Edinboro Road,
Guelph, ,after an illness of a-
bout two weeks.
The Rev. H. A, Funge, Lon-
desboro United 'Church, offic-
fated, and interment was in
Bleth Union ;Cemetery, Pall-
bearers were Ceeil, Norman and
Arthur Griffiths, sans .of the
deceased; Bill Breen and Ro-
bert Murray, sons -yin -law and
Robert Griffiths, a grandson.
Born on October 10, 1876, in
Wales, Bxribish Isles, he came .to
Canada When ten years old and
worked ;in the Londesbora area
as a carpenter. Mr. Griffiths
married Rosetta Yungblut on
June 6, 1906, and she survives
him. They lived at Landesboro
until moving to Guelph six
years gaga, Mr. Griffiths was a
carpenter, and a member of
Unity Lodge, No. 47 IOOF.
