Santa has a sweet tooth: Gr. 1A
Quite the feast
Mrs. Culbert-Feagan’s Grade 1A class at Maitland River Elementary School’s ideas of what
Santa Claus eats for dinner on Christmas Eve ranged from the sweet to the belt-busting when
they recently spoke to The Citizen on the topic. (Denny Scott photo)
When it comes time for Christmas
Eve dinner at the Claus household at
the North Pole, Mrs. Culbert-
Feagan’s Grade 1A class believes
that Santa has quite the sweet tooth.
When discussing the meal with The
Citizen recently, students said he
would eat everything from pie
to large amounts of cookies
and pop.
“I think Santa would have cherry
pie for his dinner before he got on
the sled because I like cherry pie and
I know he has to have some kind of
pie because everyone likes pie.”
Casey B.
“I think Santa would have two
chocolate chip cookies. But you
can’t just eat dessert, you have to
finish everything else first so he
would have a cracker then drink
apple juice before the cookies.”
Ava B.
“Santa would have Mrs. Claus
make 20 chocolate chip cookies and
eat them and a lot of ginger ale on
Christmas Eve. Then he would have
water so he wouldn’t be thirsty
delivering presents.”
Briella C.
“I think Santa would eat cookies
and pies that Mrs. Claus would make
for him for Christmas Eve dinner.
He would have butterscotch cookies
and strawberry pie.”
Emma C.
“I think that Santa Claus, Mrs.
Claus and all the elves would eat
four candy canes each and then have
cake together. They would eat
strawberry cake.”
Naomi C.
“Santa Claus would have turkey
for his Christmas Eve dinner like I
do for my Christmas dinner. He
would also have steak and potatoes
and cookies and milk for dessert.”
Emma C.
“Santa might have chicken soup
for his Christmas Eve dinner so he
can keep warm so he doesn’t get
cold. Mrs. Claus could make the
soup with the leftover chicken
pieces from Thanksgiving.”
Lacey H.
“If I were Santa Claus, I would
make grilled cheese sandwiches
with milk to drink for my Christmas
Eve dinner. Then I would have
cookies and milk for dessert because
they make me smile and Santa has to
smile when he’s deliverering
presents.”
Kaelyn H.
“Mrs. Claus would make
chocolate chip cookies for Santa to
eat for dinner before he delivered the
presents. He would have 10 or five
cookies and milk with them.
Cookies are his favourite kind of
food.”
Addison D.
“I think that Mrs. Claus would
make spaghetti because it can
sometimes have vegetables in it
which Santa would need because
they can give him energy to give out
all the presents. Then he has milk
because it gives him energy and it’s
healthy.”
Chloe M.
“The elves and Mrs. Claus would
make dinner for Santa. They would
eat pork and beef and carrots
because they go in with the pork.
Then they could have carrots and
beef again.”
Hannah M.
“I think Santa would eat
watermelons because they are good
and I like them and I think he likes
them. He would eat ten-hundred
watermelons.”
Kaleigh M.
“Mrs. Claus would make cheese
sandwiches for Santa because he
likes them. He would eat 100 of the
sandwiches because he really likes
them.”
Haylie M.
“Santa would eat a big roast beef
for his Christmas dinner because it’s
big and he needs big stuff because
he leaves to go around the world
after he has dinner.”
Chase S.
“I think that Santa would eat five
pies that Mrs. Claus and the elves
would have to make. He would eat a
strawberry, a blueberry, a grape, a
blackberry and an apple pie.”
Nolan S.
“If Santa was making his supper
before he got on his sled I think he
would eat gingerbread cookies and
milk. He would eat more than a
dozen cookies because he eats a lot
of them but then he would need a lot
of milk because gingerbread cookies
make your mouth feel hot.”
Jakob S.
“Santa Claus would eat chocolate
chip cookies and white milk. He
would eat three cookies.”
Jessica Y.
“I think Santa Claus would have
Oreos for his dessert, but he would
have to eat his other stuff first. First
he would eat turkey. He would eat
100 turkeys. Then he would drink
milk and have Oreos for dessert
because he needs energy.”
Daniel S.
“Santa would probably eat
chicken and milk for his Christmas
dinner because he needs lots of
energy to give presents.”
Ben W.
“I think Mrs. Claus would make
turkey and carrots for Santa for
dinner because that’s my favourite
foods so he would like them too. We
give him bananas at my house, so I
think he would eat that to.
