aged 6, suffered a broken thigh
early in March when he fell from a
verandah. He was in hospital for
ten weeks and is now able th be

Announces Over OWL
Laverne Christie was in London
Saturday and for half an hour acted
as the announcer over radio station
CiFPL. He did the announcing from
6 to 6.30 p.m. and he handled the
program very nicely.
Hensall Wins
A bunch of youngsters from one
of the rooms in the Hensall public
school came down Saturday after
noon to play the return game With
the youngsters from the Exeter pub
lic school. The visitors got revenge
for their defeat in an earlier game
when they defeated the Exeter boys
27 to 7. One of the Exeter lads ac
counts for the defeat thus: “Those
guys had four big kids from
higher room.”

Band Concerts
A band concert was held in Vic
toria Park Sunday afternoon of last
week. The weather was fine and a large crowd enjoyed the outdo-oi
music. Another concert will be held in the same park,Sunday evening
next commencing at 8.30. At this
concert a silver collection will be taken and this money will be used to
help finance the trip the band will take to compete in the Waterloo Tattoo on the following Saturday.
James Street W. M. S.
An interesting ‘ meeting of the
W. M. 'S. was held in Janies Street
Church on Thursday, June 9th when
the Auxiliary entertained the Baby
Band with their mothers; also the
members of the Mission Band. A
short business meeting preceded the
arranged program. Reports from
the secretaries and treasurer were
received. A committeee was appoint
ed to interview the young ladies of
our church, hoping to secure two
who can arrange to attend the school
of leaders at Alma College at St.
Thomas. Mrs. Page, Mrs. Southcott
and Mrs. Sharpe welcomed the guests
and despite the damp weather a
goodly number of mothers and chil
dren attended. Mrs. Kyle opened
the program with the devotional ex
ercises, after which Mrs. J. M. South
cott took the chair and with words
of greeting welcomed the guests.
The number on the program was the
‘■Story of Marion’ well dramatized by
Mrs. Southcott, Mrs. Jones, Mrs.
Sharpe, Miss Finkbeiner and Miss
Down. An instrilmental piano num
ber by Mrs. Batson was appreciated

James Street Choir Picnic
Members of James Street United
church choir together with their hus
bands and wives had a most enjoy*
able picnic in Queen’s Park, Strat
ford, oil Wednesday afternoon of
last week. The weather was cool
but everyone warmed up to the oc
casion by entering more heartily in
to .the list of sports planned for the
occasion. The enthusiasm of the af
ternoon programme gave everyone a
surprising appetite for suppe/ and
tables groaning with good things to
eat Were soon depleted.
Trivitt Wontcit’s Auxiliary
, The closing meeting of
Women’s Auxiliary of the Trivitt
Memorial church Was held at the
home of Miss MeTaggart on Tuesday
evening at eight o’clock. The meet
ing opened with hymn 1, followed by
Litany add prayers by Mrs. Tanton.
Mrs. Jennings gave the Scripture
the

reading. The roll call was answered
by a Bible verse containiug^'Faith.”
Mrs. Bierling gave a reading. Mrs.
Winer gave a report on the Deanery
which was held in Seaforth. The
meeting closed with hymn 662, fol
lowed by the benediction.
James Street Mission Circle
The regular monthly meeting of
the Mission Circle was held ait the
home of Miss Ardys MeFalls with
Betty Coates’ group in charge. The
meeting opened with a hymn follow
ed by a prayer. The president, Dor
othy Welsh took charge of the busi
ness. The minutes were read and
adopted followed by roll call. Var
ious items of business were discussed
. A hymn was sung followed by the
devotional part. Tihe Study Book was
taken by Helen Finkbeinei*. The
meeting then closed by repeating the
Mizpah benediction in unison. A very
