To ask your support for any other reason would not be in the interests of the Village, and if elected I intend to assist in bringing all the enterprises of the village to a successful issue. Your •council of 1937 have taken the ini tiative step to erect a rest room also the contract has been let to repair the dam, which will require consid erable attenion in the construction. I do not intend to canvas as 1 think you should have the free ex ercise of your most valued posses sion, namely the “franchise". I trust you. Wishing you one and all a very prosperous and happy New Year, 1 remain your most obedient servant. W. D. W. HERN For Your 1938 Reeve Ladies and Gentlemen;■—■ After having served for three years in the Council of the village of Exeter I am making an appeal to the ratepayers to elect me as ‘reeve for 1938. Since the year 1924 when Mr. Sanders was first elected reeve of Exeter up until the year 193i6 when Mr. Pyrde was elected by acclamation Mr. Sanders contested every election but one and he was in and out of the office at different times. As one ratepayer -has said, no one should have a monoply of civic office. During the three years I have been in office I have worked, I think, for the best interests of the town. If I am elected as Reeve the taxpayers may rest assured that the expenditures will be carefully watch ed by me so that all wasteful spend ing may be weeded out. Our town must go forward. Vote for J. W. Hern for Reeve To one and all I extend my best wishes for a happy and prosperous 1938. J. w. hern Electors My name will be before you on your ballot with a view to being of some useful service to- Exeter and its citizens.
