The recent heavy rains have stop­ ped haying in this district but there is a splendid growth of the root crops. A meeting of the Executive of the South Huron Conservative Associa­ tion was held here in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening.. Mrs. K. Maynard left on Monday for the West. In the evening a quartette was given by Mrs. Phile, Mrs, Drysdale, W. O. Goodwin and Dr. Smillie. At the Carmel Presbyterian Church, Rev. Mr. Young delivered very fine ad­ dresses, These were the first ser­ mons that Mr,. Young has preached in the Presbyterian church, Special music was rendered 'by the choir. Decoration Services at the Hen­ sall Union Cemetery and at McTag- gart’s Cemetery were held” on Sun­ day afternoon in charge of the Odd­ fellows. Quite a number were pres­ ent, At the Hensall Cemetery, the Rev. Mr- Young, pastor of the Car­ mel Presbyterian Church, opened the services and gave a splendid address. The graves of the departed Oddfellows were then decorated. Af- >ter this ceremony was over short addresses were given by Brothers Sutherland, Moore and Douglas. The Oddfellows then went to Mc'Tag- gart’s Cemetery where a similiar service was held. The Hensall Cem­ etery is in a very nice condition and the credit is due to Mr. Harry Smith, the caretaker. Council Meeting The regular meeting of the Village Council was held on Monday even­ ing at 8 o’clock, all members being present. Minutes of the previous two council meetings were read and ad­ opted on motion of Petty and Spen­ cer. Carried. Minutes of Court of Revision on the Assessment Roll were read. Petty and Jones that the minutes of the Court of Revision be adopted as read. Carried. Geiger reported re the grass cut­ ting on sides of roads as being com­ pleted. Petty reported re the gravelling of the streets as being completed. The proceeds exceeded expec­ tations. The S. IS> auditorium was filled to the doors with an apprec­ iative audience and the program was one of the best ever given at our strawberry Socials. Mr. Daniel Hodgson has been con­ fined to his home for the past week having had the misfortune to injure his hip from falling from a load of hay. On Wednesday ‘evening of last week Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Willis and family entertained the members of the Truth-Seekers Sunday School class and a number of their,friend® at their cottage at Grand Bend.
