At the Huron County Athletic Meet in Clinton on Friday after­ noon Goderich, .Mitchell, Seaforth, JDxetei1 and Hensall students did well in the different competitions. The Junior boys’ championship was won by Robert Passmore, Mervyn Ryckman came frst in the hop, step and jump and quite a number of xaces were won by Harold Sherritt and A. Bell, all of Hensall und in the girls races Mary Hemphill won ■several prizes. Services in our local churches were well attended on-Sunday last. Tn the United church Rev. Mr. Robb •of Centralia, occupied the pulpit and in the evening the servee was •withdrawn owing to the anniversary •at Chiselhurst. ‘ In the Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev. Mr. Mc­ Ilroy had charge of the services and an St. Paul’s Anglican church Rev. M. Parker occupied his own pulpit and in the morning Sacrament of the Lord’s Suppei’ was observed. At the Young peoples’ of the United Church on Monday a delight­ ful evemiig was spent. The pro­ gram beng very well given by Mit­ chell talent. After the opening ex­ ercises a solo was givefl by Mr. C. ^.JBlowes followed by a solo by Mrs. Tearce, after which a reading was given by Miss Dorothy Johnston and a trio by Mr. and Mrs. Blowes and Mrs. Pearce. The Late Gottfried Gaiser Gottfried Gaiser, one of the pion­ eers of Crediton died Sunday morn­ ring at his home on the outskirts' of the village of Crediton at the age of 86 years. He was born at Biers- brumm. Wurtemburg, Germany on March 17th, 1845; came to Canada when lie was a young man. In 1875 he married Miss Wilhemina Guen­ ther of this locality. Besides his widow, three sons are living Mose Gaiser, of Kitchener; Sol. Gaiser, of Allen, Sask, and Israel at home; also three daughters, Mrs. Aaron Brown and Mrs. Frank Goff, of Bright, Ont. and Viola at Eleven grandchildren complete family tree. He was an honest industrious citizen and in younger days he was one oif Evangelical S. S. teachers and proud of the fact that Rev. John Finkbeiner, of Pittsburg, Pa. Con­ ference, was one of his S.
