A. The regular meeting of the James St. W. A., was held on Thursday ■afternoon in the church parlors. The president Mrs. Goulding, presided. The meeting opened with a hymn fol­ lowed by responsive reading. Fol­ .lowing ’ another hymn the Lord’s prayer was repeated in unison. It was decided to hold a Strawberry Festival on June 23rd. After the business part of the meeting was held Miss Helen Penhaje sang a siolo •"•Slumber -Song.” The meeting clos­ ed by singing the National Anthem after which lunch was served. MAIN ST. W. A. The Women’s Association of Main St. 'United Church held their regular meeting in the church parllo'rs on Thursday afternoon with the presi- -dent Mrs. H. W. Doerr in the (chair. The devotional exercises were in charge .of Miss E. Hogarth. It was decided that the July meeting take the form of a picnic to be held on the lawn of Mrs. J. Elston. Final plans were made for the Strawberry Festival to be held <on the church' lawn, Friday, June 26tli. MISSION CIRCLE The regular meeting of the Mis­ sion Circie, of James' St. Church wag held on Tuesday evening, Jfme 2nd, nt the home of Miss Flossie Hunter, with the president Miss Mildred "Rowe in the chair. Following the opening exercises and regular busi­ ness a program arranged by Miss R. Creech, Miss M. Pridham and Miss M. A. Horton consisted Ic'f the fol­ lowing numbers: Miss Ruble Creech gave an interesting account of the Missionary wonk* of Miss Elizabeth Bell, pioneer nurse at Ethelbert, Manitoba and Mrs. Jfc'hn Rowe con- dulcted. the prayer for her continued success. Misses Pridham, sj'urnbull, Dunn and, Salter were in charge of the Missionary Study Leaflets. Mrs. Carey and Mrs. Goulding sang “Je­ sus is My Next Door Neighbor”; Miss Grace Creech read a very interest­ ing chapter of the Missionary B/ook, "Life of Robert Moffatt”. The Miz­ pah benediction brought this very interesting meeting to a close. Lunch was served by Miss M. Pridham, Miss Jtubie Creech and Miss M. A. Horton itnd a social half hfciur was spent. MAIN STREET MEN’S UNION e On Thursday evening, June the 4th, the members of Trie Men’s Un­ ion met at 6 p.m. and marched in a body into the school room of the church where they , surprised ' the' Ladies’ Aid by coming in for tea. The ladies had prbvided for only their members and had just finish­ ed tea. Hlowever, the men had pre­ pared for the occasion and brought in an added supply of ham, tea, bread and butter. After all had enjoyed an excellent meal, Mr. Layton, the president, called the mefetiug to order, Messrs. Ward, Ryckman apd Layton were then appointed to act as a dommit- tee to .oversee the cleaning of the lot to the north, of the 'church. 'I The president manned, the men for their response in returning the surprise which the ladies had given the men at their .May meeting. He also thanked the' ladies tor receiv-, ing and giving such a welcome to the men. Mrs. H. W. D'oerr, presi­ dent of the Women’s Association re­ plied, assuring the men that they J were welcome to come again. [* Mr. Francis Abbott next gave a reading entitled "The Cattle Thief” I by Pauline Jlohns'ton, after which 1 Mr. Medd spoke, reporting that a [very fine conference was being held [this year. Kinsela, of Thief River Falls, Minn., was united in marriage to* Mr. Clar­ ence Morley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Morley, of Exeter, Ontario, Canada. The bride and groom, be­ ing attended by Miss Edna Hovie, of Thief River Falls, and Mr. Reise Shanks, of Albert Lea, marched’ to the altar to the strains' o:f "Little Brown C,hurch in the Wildwood” played by Rev. Mr. Kent, who also officiated. The single ring cere­ mony was used. The bride, led to the altar by her father, was charm­ ing in a gown of orchid satin/'floor length and sun .back, with hat and other ac'ciessories to match. She wore a string of crystals, the gift of the groom, and carried an arm bouquet of yellow roses and orchid sweet peas. Her bridesmaid was dressed in' peach <chiffon with hat and all accessories to match and carried a bouquet of harmonizing roses and sweet peas, immediately after the ceremony .a breakfast was served to I immediate friends and relatives at the Coffee Shoppe at Nashua. A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mrs. Alice Gunning ' on Wednesday evening when about seventy friends of Miss Verna Hazelwood gathered together to present her with a kitchen .show­ er in honor of her approaching mar­ riage. After all the* guests had ar­ rived. Verna was brought in the living room and seated n a large chair under an arch with lilacs and a large white bell hanging from the centre. The living-room was taste­ fully decorated with pink and white streamers and tulips.
