CHICK SEXING SCHOOL
The first school for the instruc
tion in Chiclk sexing to be 'held East
■of the Roc'kies is in session a.t the
Hogarth Baby Chick Hatchery,
Exeter, Ont. Sixteen students are
receiving instruction from Mr. R.
M. Forsyth, M.S.A. Ass’t Professor
of Animal Husbandry at the Uni
versity of British Columbia. This
new science was discovered by the
Japanese some few years ago and
has developed into a vital phase of
the Poultry Industry in America.
As a result of years of patient re
search it is now possible to deter
mine the sex of chicks at a day old.
The students have shown a very
keen interest in the. course and some
of them have achieved an accuracy
of around 95% on .small numbers
of chicks. The development' of this
new science will help to fill the demand of the industry for sexed,
pullets, especially of t'he lighter
breeds. '.Mr. Forsyth studied this
•science with the Japanese in Brit
ish Columbia and has handled
thousands of chicks; after which he
wrote a book "Chick Sexing Made
Easy." His method of explanation
and instruction ig probably the most
simple yet devised.
