Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Skinner and daughter, Eleanor, of Thorndale vis­ ited friends in town on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stewart have returned to their home in Toronto after a town. The Young People of the Carmel Presbyterian Church intend holding a banquet on Monday evening, Oc­ tober 2nd and on Sunday, October 22nd Anniversary services will be held. Rally Day services were observed in the Carmel Presbyterian church on Sunday last with the Rev. W. A Young having charge of the services. A very delightful quartette was rendered by Misses Irene Daters Mabel Workman, Irene Hoggarth and Dorothy Daters. At the United Church Rev. Arthur iSinqlair oc­ cupied the pulpit and excellent mu­ sic was rendered by the choir. Next Sunday Rally Day will be held and a children’s choir will lead in the service of song at the morning ser­ vice. Rev. Abray-Hudson A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Carmel Presbyterian Church manse, on .Saturday, when, Thelma Louise, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hudson, was united in marriage to Harry Abray, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Abray, Lon­ don. The bride was charmingly gowned in a frock of Sheer Crepe in brown shade with hat, shoes and gloves to match arid for travelling a dress of maroon crepe with acces­ sories to match and a fawn coat with squirrel, trimmfing. Mrs. Joynt left this week for Toronto where she intends making her home, Her many friends see her leave A meeting the Hensall Huron county were held at these centres on Saturday night, Septem ber 23rd, under the auspices of the Ontario Bean Growers’ Association. The Bean situation was outlined in detail by the President of the Association, Mr. W. Ward, of Ridge­ town, and Mr. W. E. Reid, Secretary of the Association, Chatham. Other speakers were Mr. George Newman Muirkirk, and Mr. Eugene King and Mr. D. D. Gagnier, Paincourt. The meeting of the Huron Presby­ tery was held at the United church on Thursday last. Kenneth Sippell left last week for Naperville, Ill., where he will attend the Seminary. An inspiring ad­ dress entitled “Serving Jesus To­ day’’ was given by Melvin Lamport The Sunday School services, next Sunday, October 1st, owing to. The speaker was Roy Ratz whose talk Day’’ was enjoyed by all. followed by promotion when a number of classes moted, including some boys from the Beginner's Class to the Primary Department. They pass­ ed through beautiful white gates decorated with flowers which were opened by Doris Wuerth and Calvin Fahrner. The regular meeting of the Credi­ ton Women’s Institute was held on September 19th, with the president occupying the chair. After singing the Ode and repeating the Lord’s Prayer in unison “The Old Oaken Bucket’’ was sung. The minutes ot the previous meeting were read and adopted. Roll call was answered “Neighbourly Acts.’’ a goodly num­ ber responded, a new member being added to t'he roll. A number of let' ters of appreciation were read. A short memorial service was held in memory Young, member program “Long, Long Ago”;. Miss E. Brown spoke on Current Events, telling of the scarcity of water supplies; In­ strumental duet by Miss L. When it came time to blow out the candles on the three cakes, for the occasion, Mi* Webb failed to blow out the 65 can­ dles in one breath but the other two were successful in blowing their can­ dles out in one breath.
