Services in our local churches were
well attended on Sunday last. At
the United Church Rev. Arthur Sin
clair occupied the pulpit and in the
morning'a duet was given by Doctor
Smillie and .Sarn’l Renie. At the Car
mel Presbyterian church Rev. W. A.
Kaine, of Seaforth, preached very in
spiring sermons to a large congrega
tion.
The Hensall Fire Brigade was call
ed to Zurich on Monday afternoon
when the fire in Haist’s Bakery got
beyond control of the ZuTich brigade
and threatened the village. A few
minutes after the .call same in the
brigade was on its way. Dashwood
and (Clinton brigades were also call
ed as the fire at one time looked as
if it might sweep the village. The
local brigade returned to Hensall
about 8 o’clock.
Hensall who won out in the B ser
ies of the Western group played Hes-
peler, the winners of the Eastern
group in ahother play off here on
Wednesday afternoon last, winning
the game six to one. On Saturday af
ternoon the Hensall team went to
Hespeler for the second game. Hes-
peler winning on their own diamond
seven to four. The deciding game
will be played at Preston on Wed
nesday afternoon of this week. The
Hensall baseball team have had won
derful success this season and a large
crowd of Hensall fans are going tc
Preston to witness the final game.

played and many enjoyed a dip in

respects and to show their sympathy
