Misses Gladys Passmore and Ver- da Watson are spending this week visiting with the latter’s parents at Londesboro. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. McQueen and two daughters and Mr. John Pass- more visited on (Sunday with friends at the Beach o’ Pines. Mrs. Short has returned to her home in Windsor after a pleasant visit here with her sisters Misses Mary and E,mma Johnston. Master Raymond Higgins has re­ turned home after spending the past two weeks visiting with his sister Mrs. Orville Beavers at Farquhar. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Merner and family and Mrs. Tieman, of Dash­ wood, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S. Merner and Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Brock. Miss C. Mitchell, who underwent an operation at the Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, last week is im­ proving nicely. Her many friends hope for a speedy recovery. Mr. Jas. Eby, of Collingwood spent the week-end with relatives in town. He was accompanied home by his wife and little daughter, who have been visiting Mr. and Mirs. Wm. Mr. Bert North, spent the week-end relatives in town, panied home by daughter Audrey, who visiting here for the past Services in our local churches were well attended on Sunday last. At the United Church Rev. Arthur Sin­ clair occupied the pulpit and in the morning'a duet was given by Doctor Smillie and .Sarn’l Renie. At the Car­ mel Presbyterian church Rev. W. A. Kaine, of Seaforth, preached very in­ spiring sermons to a large congrega­ tion. The Hensall Fire Brigade was call­ ed to Zurich on Monday afternoon when the fire in Haist’s Bakery got beyond control of the ZuTich brigade and threatened the village. A few minutes after the .call same in the brigade was on its way. Dashwood and (Clinton brigades were also call­ ed as the fire at one time looked as if it might sweep the village. The local brigade returned to Hensall about 8 o’clock. Hensall who won out in the B ser­ ies of the Western group played Hes- peler, the winners of the Eastern group in ahother play off here on Wednesday afternoon last, winning the game six to one. On Saturday af­ ternoon the Hensall team went to Hespeler for the second game. Hes- peler winning on their own diamond seven to four. The deciding game will be played at Preston on Wed­ nesday afternoon of this week. The Hensall baseball team have had won­ derful success this season and a large crowd of Hensall fans are going tc Preston to witness the final game. STEPHEN A. The citizens of Crediton have been interested in a curiosity in the form of a pure white black squirrel which is making its home in the orchard of Mr. John Lawson. A white black squirrel is something new in this community. Ball games were played and many enjoyed a dip in the lake. The funeral of the late Mrs. Jno. Francis, of London, was very large­ ly attended here by sorrowing rela­ tives and friends.
