Murphy has been in Strathroy for the past couple of weeks owing to the illness of her mother, Mrs. Louise Westlake, who has been ill, but is now improving. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. The Canadian Cowboys, of London provided music at the dance in the Exeter Opera House on Thursday ev. , ening of last week at which a large crowd was present. Mr. William Melville received word last week from his brother Frank, of Huntingdon, Calif., stat­ ing that they had passed through the earthquake without any accident and with little damage to their home. The Exeter Relief Committee have had several appeals for warm cloth­ ing and bedding, especially for boy’s trousers. Anyone who has articles of this kind to spare kindly communi­ cate with Mrs. J. H. Browning or leave at the Times-Advocate. The Erie Gas station at the corner of Main and North streets which was recently taken over by the Supertest Gas. Co. has been closed down for a month. Relatives of Mrs. Thomas Kernick of Toronto, have received word that at present she is in a very critical condition. Mrs. Kernick suffered from gangerine and a little over a week ago it was found necessary to amputate a portion of the leg. Her condition has shown little improve­ ment since. Announcement came over the ra­ dio from C'JGC during the Canadian Cowboy program, Monday evening that M'r. and Mrs. Jonathan Kydd were celebrating their 48th wed­ ding Anniversary. Also1 that Mr. and Mrs. John Simpson, of Usborne and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Hawkins, of Seaforth, were observing their anni­ versary the same day. Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Hawkins are sisters.
