Miss Lily Hcjffman Honored The following item taken from the London Free Press will be read with interest as Miss Hoffman is a former Dashwood young lady. “In honor or Miss Lily Hoffman, who has been a popular member of the staff of Chesley Avenue School and who has been transferred to the Simcoe Street Normal Training School, the pupils of Chesley Avenue Sch'ool presented her with a white gold ring set with aquamarine, the ring carrying out the school colors, of white and blue. Miss Hoffman has not only been popular with her own class; but is known to the whole school, having trained the school choir. IShe is’also president of the Women Teachers’ Guild. In her honor the principal of the school, E. E. Gibbs, and Mrs. Gibbs enter­ tained the staff at their home, King Street at a Hallowe’en party, when a lamp was presented to iMiiss Hoff­ man. Luker were sorry to hear of his death which took place at the home of his daughter, Mrs, Hodgins, of Biddulpli Township, on Friday last. Mr. Luker farmed for a good many years on the Zurich road 2 miles west of Hensall and was one of the best known men in this dis­ trict. The bride who was given in marriage by her father wore a lovely gown of white satin fashioned in princess style with long graceful skirt, over it fell her tulle veil which was caught with a cor­ onet of'orange blossoms, white satin slippers were worn and she carried a shower bouquet of sweet heart roses. The deceased had been confined to her bed for about two weeks and a half, death being due to hardening of the arteries. Mrs. Appletoil was born, in West Williams township ahd for twenty one years had been a resident of Crediton. Site was a member of the Crediton United Church and es­ teemed by a wide circle of triends.
