Mr. Smith was stricken with appen­ dicitis on Monday evening and rush­ ed to the hospital for an operation, but failed to rally and passed away on Wednesday evening. The family also lived at Clinton for awhile and after­ wards moved to Detroit where they have since resided. He made fre­ quent visits to Hensall, visiting at the homes, of his cousins, Mrs. Ed­ gar McQueen and Mrs. Robt Hig­ gins. While here he also favoured the Congregation of the United Church by taking part in the choir at the Sunday service. Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his loss, five young children, four boys and one girl; one brother, Mr. David Smith, of Detroit. Mr. Smith was a lover of music, and took great in­ terest in the Y. M. C. A. work in the city of Detroit. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon from the late home on Larchmont Ave..
