This was the year 1935 at Clinton Public
School, The only person we will identify is Gordon
Herman, Clinton main street merchant, in the
second row, centre. This picture, also received a
good deal of attention at the George H. Jefferson
Appreciation Day event on Saturday.

held in Harlock School (SS
6 Hullett) on Saturday even-
ing, October 21, when hostesses
were Mrs. Leslie Reid, Mrs.
Ward Knox, Mrs. Watson Reid
and Mrs. James McEwing.
Marjorie was escorted to a

Kingswell, Trafalgar Street,
Goderich were at home to thei
friends, and neighbours on the
occasion of their golden wed-
ding anniversary.
Mr, Kingswell, born at Nor-
wich, and the former Flora
Adeline McLeod of Sheppard-
ton, exchanged vows at Nile
United Church parsonage half
a century ago. They have lived
in Goderich and district all
their married life,
The couple has one daughter,
Mrs, George (Florence) Mc-
Ihvain, Sr., Hallett Township‘
and two sons, Hector, Clinton
and Ralph, Goderich, There are
also five grandchildren,
Guests at a family dinner in
the evening included Mrs.
Kingswell's uncle, John Green,
Sr., Port Albert.

Burns United Church was
decorated with candelabra,
white 'mums and fern for the
lovely wedding - on Saturday,
November 4, when Marjorie
Ann McEwing became the br-
ide of Howard Kenneth Cart-
wright. The Rev, H. A. Funge,
Londesboro officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John H. McEw-
ing, RR 1, Blyth and the gr-
oom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Cartwright, RR 1, Land-
esboro.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was lovely
in a floor length gown of ny-
lon net and chantilly lace. The
full bouffant net skirt had two
lace panels down the front and
back, The fitted lace bodice
had a sabrina neckline trimmed
with seed pearls and sequins.
Her lily-paint sleeves were long
and her standing crown of se-
quins and pearls held a circu-
lar French embroidered illusion
veil. She carried red roses and
white carnations.
Mrs. Robert Read, Kingston,
was maid of honour and brides-
maids were Miss Noreen Mc-
Ewing, Wingham and Miss
Karen McEwing. The attend-
ants wore identical gowns of
royal blue ballerina-length or-
ganza with bouffant skirts st-
yled with shirred panels down
the front from neckline to hem
and fitted bodices, Cap sleeves,
scooped neckline with tiny pin-
tucks across the front and a
self trim bow of organza com-
pleted the attire. All carried
white carnations,

Londesboro was groomsman
and ushers were Keith Cart-
wright, RR 1, Londesboro and
Alex McEwing, RR 1, Myth.
Miss Marguerite Lyon, Kit-
chener was organist, accomp-
aning Harry Lear, Blyth whb
sang the Lord's Prayer and the
wedding Prayer.
At the reception in Landes-
born Church parlours, *the br-
ide's mother received in mag-
enta crepe and satin with 'black
corsage and white gardeniaa.
She was assisted by the gr-
oom's mother in dawn blue bro-
caded dress with ahatching
ket, white accessories and a

Mrs. Alfred Hudie, 116 Rat-
tenbury Street, Clinton, was
hostess to the Women's Auxil-
iary of St. James Church, Mid-
dleton on Wednesday evening,
November 1 with 19 members
one visitor and the rector, the
Rev. E. J. B. Harrison present.
Mrs. Milton Steepe presided
and minutes were read by Mrs.
Arnold Miller. Mrs. Don Mid-
dleton gave the scripture read-
ing from Psalm 103 and the
treasurer's report was present-
ed by Mrs. Alvin Dutot,
"Thank Yau" cards were re-
ceived from Mrs. Gordon Rath-
well and from Mrs. Keith Mil-
ler. Roll call was answered by
a proverb.
Mrs, Steepe gave a brief talk
on Martin Luther, the leader of
the reformation, the annivers-
ary of which is celebrated at
this time.
Mrs. Ray Wise gave an in-
formative history of Hallowe'en
from the :time of the Druids
to All Saints Day — from "soul
cakes" to modern handouts.
Mrs. Ray Wise also favoured
with a humorous poem "Leave
it to the Ladies Aid."
For the benefit of those un-
able to attend the recent Dean-
ery meeting in St. Paul's Ch-
urch, Clinton, highlights of
Canon Zimmermann's speech
were given by those who had
the privilege of hearing him.
The annual meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs, Fred
Middleton, A nominating com-
mittee composed of Mrs. Ed-
ward Wise, Mrs. John Grigg
and Mrs. Don Middleton was
appointed to bring in a slate of
officers at the next meeting,
Mrs. Don Middleton, conduct-
ed a "books of the Bible" con-
test which was won by Mrs.
Milton Steepe and Mrs. Deeves.
Mr, Harrison closed the meet-
ing with the litany after which
the hostess served a lovely
lunch, Mrs. Arnold Miller mov-
ed a hearty vote of thanks to
Mrs. Hudie for her gracious
hospitality,
Mrs. Earl Bernard, Brussels
and Mrs, Alex McEwing, Sea-
forth, also were seated at the'
front.
Lovely corsages were pinned
on the honoured guests by Mrs.
Leslie Reid. Miss Mary Lou
Roe, Kitchener, assisted by
Miss Shirley Knox, conducted
contests and games. Mrs. Toll
read "Getting a Man to Pro-
pose". The bride-elect was
presented with many lovely
and useful gifts, with Miss
Shirley Knox reading the pres-
entation address,
Marjorie invited all to her
trousseau tea. The hostess ser-
ved lunch. Miss McEwing had
been honoured in London with
a miscellaneous shower by fr-
iends at London Life where
she has been employed for the
past three and a half years.

honour of her daughter Marj-
orie Ann on October 28. Re-
