COIN
(By MOE C. =TRIOS) •
This week I would like to
give you some idea on how col.,
lectors grade coins, What may
look like an uncirculated coin
to the average person, to the
collector it could be a poor
specimen. On every coin there
are certain high spots which
always wear quicker than the
lower portions of the coin. For
example, the hairlines of Qu-
een Elizabeth or King Geoge
VI and the crown of King Geo-
rge V. This will give you some
idea, although there are many
other places to look for wear
on a coin.
Collectors are •a very partic-
ular group when it comes to
buying a coin, they also look
for scratches, little nicks, dis-
coloration, erosion, and also if
the coin has been cleaned. All
of these things can subtract
from the value of a coin.
If you have any coins, you
should let someone who knows
coins grade them for you, and
then have the better ones wrap-
ped separately and kept in a
dry place. This will ensure
that the coins will, stay in
good shape.
One more thing, NEVER, el,
can a coin. Experienced collec-
tors will very seldom buy a
coin that has been cleaned, Un-
less it •is a rarity, but even
then he will offer you more if
it hasn't been cleaned. Clean-
ing coins should be left 'to the
professional.
I hope that all of you read-
ers took the opportunity to
see some of my collection down
at McEwan's Book Store. This
week there will be other coins
put in the window, so don't
forget to look in when you are
downtown in Clinton.
For any information on coins
or banknotes don't hesitate to

Shopping Begins in the Pages
Of This Newspaper
"For good eating in October,
you can't beat cheese," say
smart homemakers across Can-
ada, as we once more celebrate
the National Cheese Festival.
For in addition to featuring
cheese in satisfying everyday
casseroles, and in salad and
dessert touches, homemakers-
in-the-know count on cheese
to win plaudits when they en-
tertain . . . to make hearty
sandwiches for their teen-types'
hollow legs . . . and to create
gourmet-style dishes on a bud-
get.
To tastefully illustrate the
versatility of cheese, here are
three new recipes . . design-
ed for three variations on the
everyday theme of good eat-
ing.
3-WAY CHEESE SPREADS
The 3-Way Cheese Spreads
are basically a smooth smooth
blend of Canadian cheddar
cheese and cream cheese, soft-
ened with a little milk. Then
they're given the tri-flavor
treatment •by adding Worces-
tershire, horseradish and cara-
way seeds to one third

chopped prunes and nuts to a
second . . . and sweet pickles
to the third. Shaping in rolls,
triangles and long rectangles
makes this trio a three-part
flavor story on the snack tray
that's bound to do any hostess
proud.
' 3-Way Cheese Spreads
4 cups shredded Canadian
cheddar cheese (34 pound)
3 (4 ounce) packages cream
chese •
2 tablespoons milk
• '1%. teaspoons horseradish
11/2 teaspoons Worcestershire
sauce
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
3 tablespoons chopped dried
prunes
1 tablespoon chooped nuts
2 tablespoons pickle relish,
drained
Blend cheddar cheese, cream
cheese and milk. Divide mix-
ture into thirds. Add horserad-
ish and Worcestershire sauce
to first part. Shape into a roll,
1 inch in diameter and coat
with caraway seeds. Add prun-
es and nuts to second part.
Shape into a long rectangular
loaf, also 1 inch in diameter.
Add pickle relish to third -part
and shape into a long wedge-
shaped loaf. Chill loaves until
fhm. Serve on cheese tray
with assorted crackers.
2-IN-ONE SANDWICH
Here's an ideal lunchtime
treat for the youngsters . .

er rolls, and stuffing two
