provided in Huron County under the auspices of
the Health Unit. Commencing October 15th, 1961,
permits will be required for all work covered by
the Provincial Plumbing Code. Inspection fees ore

Holmesville Students Win at .Bayfield
Pupils of Holmesville Public School proved to be
something to reckon with at the Bayfielcl Fall
Fair last week. In the talent contest they ran off .
with a pair of top prizes, and in other competition,
racked up plenty of points. This year there are
three rooms in the Holmesville school, Holding
the banner, left is Joan Wood and Shirley Norman
at right. Pipers are James Millar, left and Charlie
MacDonald, both with the Goderich Legion Pipe
Band •and all are members of the senior room at
Holmesville, The pipers placed first in the talent

Clinton Memorial Shop Catholic Women's League Finalizes •
Plans for Ahnual Bazoar, October 28
Members of the St, Josephs
sub-division of the Catholic
Women's Longue, Clinton, made
final plans for their annual
bazaar to be held in the par-.
ish hail, Saturday afternoon,
Qotober 28. Various members
will convene baking, sewing,
candy, fish pond, penny-sale
and home produce booths, Dr-
A,Wa will be made on three sp-
ecial prizes, including a tele-.
phone gossip bench, a :sheet and
pillow slip set and a card table.
During the afternoon, free tea
will be served as well as a
free door prize given away.
A report on the recent third
annual rectory tea 'held last
week was presented by Mrs.
David Kay, who convened the
event along with Mrs, C. A,.
Trott.
The Rev. Father L. E, Reed-
Lewis, spiritual-director, spoke
en the forthcoming diocesan
census, from October 29 to
November 5. He asked for the
united support of League mem-
bers in the task of checking
both, the rural and urban hom-
es in the area of the parish.
In co-operation with the Cl-
inton Brandi of the Canadian
Cancer Society a film is ex-
pected to be shown at the No-
vember meeting of the League,
and a booth supplied with ed-
ucational literature will be
present at the bazaar.
Members were informed of
the deanery meeting to be held
in Hesson, OctOber 18.
The visiting committee for
October will be Mrs. John
Wilson, Mrs, A. L. Shanahan
and Mrs. C. A. Trott, while the
social committee includes Mrs.
Frank Van Altena, Ml. .John
Flynn and Mrs. David Middle-
ton. The mystery prize was
won by Mrs. I.410yd Medd.
Members were encouraged to
save labels from food products
in, 'the project of securing a
coffee urn,

C.W.L. Rectory Tea
The Third' annual rectory tea
sponsored by St. Joseph's sub-
division of the Catholic Wo-
men's League, Clinton, saw gu-
ests registering from Clinton,
Seafonth, 'St. Colurnban, Dublin,
Blyth and Goderich. Vases of
gold 'mums and urns of aut-
umn flowers decorated the sp-
acious rooms of the rectory on
James Street.
Little Miss Eva Ferrance
attended the door where guests
were received by Mrs. Arnold
Dale, president, assisted by
Mrs. Mary Reed-Lewis, mother
of the pastor, the Rev. L. E,
Reed-Lewis. The tea was con-
vened by Mrs. David Kay and
Mrs C. A. Trott. Mrs. John
Wilson was in charge of the
register, assisted by Mrs, Jos-
eph Flynn,
The tea table, covered with
a lace cloth, was decorated
with a low mound of oak leav-
es effectively arranged with
peachchip perms and eryanthus,
offset by tall glowing peach
tapers in candelabra.
Presiding were Mrs. Eldon
O'Brien, Mrs. John Anstett,
Mrs. Clifford' Parker, Mrs.
Lloyd Medd, Mrs. A. Garon,
Mrs. Lawrence Denomme, Mrs.
David Vargo, and Mrs, Louis
Phelan, representing St. Mich-
ael's sub-division of the Cath-
olic Women's League at Blyth.
Serving in the tea room
were Mrs, Bert Glidden, Mrs.
Frank Burns, Mrs. David Mid-
dleton, Mrs, Thomas Kelly,
Mrs. Arnold Ferrance and Mrs.
Frank Van Altena. Assisting
were Mrs. Joseph Blake, Mrs,
Archie Fleet, Mrs. Clem Rey-
nolds, Mrs. Vincent Reles, Mrs.

The Good Will Club of Wes-
ley-Willis United' Church will
meet in the church parlour on
Tuesday evening, October 10
at S p.m. with Mrs. Frank
Fingland as guest speaker. In
charge of this meeting will be
Mrs. Lorne Jervis and Mrs. B.
C. Hearn.

White gladioli were used in
decorating St. Cuthbert's Ang-
lican Church, Leaside for the
wedding on September 30 of
Alison May, daughter of 'Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Allen, Lea-
side, to Donald Wilbert Lobb,
RR 2, Clinton, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Mervyn Lobb, RR 2, Cl-
inton.
The Rev. J. de Ponder Wri-
ght, rector of the church, con-
ducted the double ring cere-
mony. Traditional wedding
marches were played by the
organist.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was lovely in
floor-length white peau de
sole with lace bodice and scal-
loped neckline, and she car-
ried' white lacy chrysanthe-
mums around yellow roses, and
ivy.
Mrs. Marie Plummer, sister
of the bride, Oshawa, was' mat-
ron of honour in green cock-
tail length peau de sole with
matching overskirt, and carried
a bouquet of gold and bronze
chrysanthemums.
Miss Alyce Morel, Toronto,
was bridesmaid in matching
dress of bronze peau de sole,
and a similar bouquet.
Murray Lobb, Clinton, was
groomsman and guests were
ushered by Alfred Plummer.
Mrs. W. Fingland
After a lingering illness. Jan-
etta Maybelie McDiarmid Fing-
land, dearly beloved wife of
the Rev. W. Fingland',
minister emeritus of St. And-
rew's United Church and chair-
man of the Niagara Falls
Board of Education, and moth-
er of Mrs. Harry Beer (Peg-
gy), Niagara Falls, died on
Wednesday, September 27 at
Grace Abbey Convalescent
Home, Culp Street.
The Rev. Dr. W. Fingland is
a brother of Judge Frank Fing-
land Clinton.
She was born at Fingal, at-
tended St. Thomas Collegiate
and graduated from the Uni-
versity of Toronto with a
Master's Degree in, mathemat-
ics and science.
She taught at Humberside
Collegiate in Toronto for sev-
eral years. She married Dr.
Fingland in 1920. For the past
30 years she 'has been a resi-
dent of Niagara Falls. Previous
to that they lived in Mimico,
for 11 years.
Mrs. Fingland took an active
part in church and civic work,
especially in the work of the
Sunday School and Women's
Missionary Society. Also she
served in the University Wo-
merfs Club, Local Council of
Women, Save - the - Children's
Fund, the Y.W.C.A. and Niag-
ara Falls Women's Service
Committee of the Canadian
Cancer Society.
Mrs. Fingland rested at the
funeral chapel of Hethering-
ton and Deans, 1176 Victoria
Ave. until Friday morning,
September 29, then at 'the new
St. Andrew's United Church,
Morrison Street where funeral
Deeves-Dayman

A quiet wedding was solem-
nized at the United Church
manse, Hensall, on Saturday,
September -30 when the Rev.
Currie Winlaw united in mar-
riage Gertrude Irene Dayman,
Hensall and Asa Deeves, Clin-
ton.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Sarah Glazier, Clinton,
and the late Adam Glazier,
and the groom is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Deeves, Clinton.
A wool suit of light cocoa
was worn by the bride and she
carried an orchid corsage.
Attendants were Mrs, Elgin
Johnston, London and Tom
Deeves, Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Ma Deeves will
reside in Hensall.
For the reception held at
the home of the bride's par-
ents, Mrs. Allen received in
golden-bronze printed silk and
corsage of white carnations.
Mrs. Lobb assisted in floral
magenta jersey and white car-
nation corsage.
Leaving on a wedding toip to
Muskoka for a week, the bride
donned a suit of brown wool
with matching accessories. Up-
on their return the young coup-

Joseph H. Dayman

Joseph H. Dayman, 87, Wel-
land and a native of Kippen
passed away Wednesday, Sep-
tember 27 in Welland General
Hospital.
He was married to the for-
mer Miss Ranky, Seaforth and
farmed north of Seaforth near
Maitland Cemetery. He left
Seaforth and moved to Fort
Erie.
He 'is survived by a daugh-
ter, Mrs. (Edna) J. Gotch, New
Orleans and a son Robert, Jor-
dan, He was a brother of the
late Robert Dayman, Hensall.
Service was on Saturday,
September 30 from the •G. A.
Whitney funeral home, Sea-
forth.
Mrs. Robt, W. Clark
Interment service was con-
dUcted on Monday morning,
October 2 at ten o'clock, 'at
Clinton Cemetery, for Mrs.
Jean Clark, beloved wife of
Robert Clark, RR 1, Bayfield,
who passed away in God'erich
Township on Friday, Septem-
ber 29. She was in her 58th
year.
Mrs. Clark rested at the Ball
and Mutch funeral home, 153
High Street Clinton.
Surviving besides her husb-
and, are one daughter, Mary,
and two sons, Robert Gordon
and James Patrick, all at
home; one half-brother Patrick
McLaughlin, Sydney, Australia
and one sister, Sara McCorm-
ick, Ballycastle, Northern Ire-
land.
