ed on Monday, September 25
from the D. J. Robb funeral
home, Sarnia, for the late Ho-
bert Sweet, who passed away
in Sarnia on Thursday, Sept-
ember 21, Interment was at
Lakeview Cemetery,
Mr. Sweet was once a con-
'tractor in the Clinton area, He
was• married' to Minnie Moore,
who predeceased' him. His home
was at 142 Samuel Street,
Sarnia,
The deceased went to Sarnia
in 1916 where he was employed
with Imperial Oil Ltd. until
1931, as a bricklayer.
In 1937 he started' operating
the Dixie Booth on Wellington
Street, Sarnia, then, in 1939 he
moved to the corner of Davis
and. Victoria Street where he
ran the business until 1937.
He is survived by a daughter,
Miss Myrle Sweet, Sarnia; a
brother, Frederick Sweet, Sault
St. Marie, three nieces' and' a
nephew.

65 in 1943 but continued his
association with the firms until
his death.
He was a devoted' member
of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church and a member of the
choir for over 60 years. He
loved to sing praises to Al-
mighty God.
His love for the out-of-doors
life inspired a great interest in
his heart 'for the loveliness of
his garden and flowers and 'the
beauty of nature was a const-
ant delight to him.
Once an ardent member of
the Clinton Bowling Club, 'he
was compelled to forege the
pleasures of the "greens" dur-
ing the later years of life, blit
continued to be a frequent sp-
ectator.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Jeanette McRae,
one daughter, Helen (Mrs. Ed-
gar Thompson) of Detroit,
Michigan; one son Kenneth,
Aylmer; one grandaughter
Sandra, and one sister, Mrs.
Margaret l3allantyne, Brussels,

League Formed
The Catholic Women's Lea-
gue of Canada is organized on
the national, the provincial and
the dioscesan levels. The latter
is divided into the various par-
ish councils. A new parish
council is presently being form-
ed at RCAF Station Clinton,.
Father R. E. Hussy, director,
and the members of the ex-
ecutive met September 21 at
the home of Mrs. W. A. Wick-
ware. The 'members of the ex-
ecutive are: president, Mrs.
E. J. Lesnick; vice-president,
Mrs. J. W. Thompson; secre-
tary, Mrs. W. A. Wickware;
treasurer, Mrs. J. H. Huard.
The conveners are: spiritual
and educational, Mrs, M, F.
Betts; welcoming, Mrs. A. M.
McKenzie and Mrs. R. L. Pet-
erson; lunch, Mrs. J, R. Fred-
ette.
The first general meeting
will be held Monday, October
16.
