winner of a ton of feed in a contest conducted by
Cyanamid of Canada, This was the Shelimaker
Huron County Contest for the first part of the
summer. The second contest is now underway.

MR. AND MRS. JOHN SIMMONS, Woodstock,
married in Grace United Church, Porter's Hill, on
Saturday, July 22 by the Rev. R. G. MacMillan,
Goderich, assisted by the Rev. C. W. Smith, Bay-
field. The bride is Mary Elizabeth, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William Townshend and her husband
is the son of Mrs. Irene Simmons, Zurich.

olet Irene Phillips was held
from the Ball and alutch fun-
eral home, 153 High Street,
Clinton, Monday afternoon, July
24, with interment in the fern,
ily plot th Blyth Union Ceme-
tery. The Rev. Grant Mills of
Ontario Street United Church
Clinton, officiated.
Pall -bearers were six nep-
hews of the deteased: Elwin
Ross and John Merrill, Clinton;
John Phillips, Burlington; Fred
1Vatehell, and George
Clough, Clinton. Flower -
bearers were Bert ShObbrook,
Clarence Crawford, Stanley Ly-
on, Londesboro; Norman Man-
ning, Benmiller and Lorne Jer-
vis, and Wilfred Jervis, Clin,
ton.
The late Miss Phillips was,
born on May 24, 1895 in Hul-
lett Township, a daughter of
the late John Phillips and
Mettle (Lansing) Phillips,
After graduatirg from Clin-
ton Business College, she held
positions in Toronto, being con-
nected with Phoenix Assurance
Company, Toronto for 33 years.
She resided in Toronto, Since
her retirement in 1957, until
May 1 when she C0111.0 to re-
sid'e in 'Clinton. Very gone( after,
she was stricken with an illness
which tensed her death in Clin-
ton Public Hospital On. July 22.
She attended' St, Columba
United Church in Toronto. She.
is survived by one sister, Mrs.
Myrtle Merrill, RR 2, Clinton,
and seven nieces: and nephews.
She was predeceased by one
brother, Orval Phillips, Mitchell
on January 5, 1947.

on July 19, 1961 at 9 A.M. in

will be 'greatly missed.
Although not in robust health
she had shown marked improve -
merit in the ten days at their
summer home before she suffer-
ed a, heart ,attack on Sunday,
July 16.
