Of Stanley Club
The final meeting of the sea-
son of the Stanley Ladies'
Club was held at the home of
Mrs. Fred Gibson with 14
members and six visitors pre-
sent. Roll , call was answered
by 'an exchange of bulbs and
flower slips.
Plans were discussed for the
annual picnic to be held at
Bayfield in July.
The election of officers took
place as follows: president,
Mrs. George Cantelon; vice-
president, Mrs. Stewart Baird;
secretary, Mrs. Fred Gibson;
treasurer, Mrs. Bob Glen; roll
call, Mrs. John McGregor.

Township, died Monday, July
10 at his residence.
A life-long resident of the
township, he is survived by his
wife, the former Annie Louisa
Lawson; two daughters, Mrs.
Pat (Phyllis) Johnston, Grand
Valley; Mrs. Ray (Clete)
Finch, Hullett Township; two
sons, Lloyd, Hullett Township;
Jack, at home; one sister, Mrs.
George Layton, Exeter; 15
grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Service was from the Ball
and Mutch funeral home, 153
High Street, Clinton, Wednes-
day, July 12, with interment in
Clinton Cemetery.
Dr. Arthur H. Lyon
Dr. Arthur H. Lyon, 51, Win-
dsor physician, died there Tues-
day, July 11, in a hospital
where he had been a patient
for two months.
Dr„ Lyon was a director of,
Windsor Medical Services,
past chairman of Trans-Can.!ada
Medical Plans and past presi-
dent of the Essex County
Medical Society.
Born in Hallett Township ast
Londesboro, he attended Nor-
mal School in Toronto and was
principal at King Edward Pub-
lic School in Kitchener before
he entered' the University of
Toronto to study medicine.
After graduation in 1939 he
served his internship at St.
Michael's Hospital, Toronto, and
went to Windsor where he was
associated with Dr. Neil Mac-
Donald.
Dr. Lyon leaves his wife, the
former Ruth Schmitt; his
mother, Mrs. William Lyon, of
Londesboro; two sons, Arthur
and W. Kirk, both living at
home; one brother, Dr. E.
Kirk Lyon, Leamington, and
two sisters, Mrs. John Moroso,
Hamilton, and Mrs. Ruth Mey-
ers, Simcoe.

West on Monday night of a
heart attack.
Mr. Turner was employed at
the Clinton Post Office since
mid -summer, 1960, and had
seven years before that in the
Post Office at RCAF Station
Clinton.
He is survived by his mother,
Mrs. John Turner, Clinton;
four sisters, Mrs. Edgar (An-
nie) Allen, Brucefield; Mrs.
Norman (Mary) ' Griffiths, Ni-
agara Palle; Mrs. Drew (Kath-
erine) Fowler, London; Mrs.
Jack (Shirley) Duckworth,
Goderich; three brothers, Rob-
ert, Auburn; James and Thom-
as of Goderich Township.
Service 'this afternoon, Tiurs-
day et the Beattie funeral home
Clinton, at two o'clock with
burial in Bayfield Cemetery.
He was an active member of
the Huron Fish and Game Con-
servation Association, having
:served in most capacities, in -
eluding presidency, of that gr-

thur Samuel Sturdy, son of
the late Samuel and Janet
Sturdy, who passed away in
Clinton Public Hospital on July
5. The Rev. Peter L. Dymond,
St. Paul's Anglican Church af-
ficiarted.
Pall -bearers were friends and
neighbours, Harry Sturdy, Ern-
est Little and Donald McCabe,
all of Goderich; Beno Dubler,
Daniel Gliddlen and Kenneth
Trewartha, all of Ho'Imesville.
Interment was in Maitland
Cematey, Goderich.
Mr. Sturdy was born and
lived all of his life in Goder-
ich Township on the homestead.
He never married, but leaves to
mourn, two brothers John H,,

Attendants were gowned alike
in blue organza over a-atin with
overskirt trimmed with .em-
broid'ered daisies, with two-
tiered sleeves and snatching
harts of twostiers. The senior
attendants carded pink and
white 'mums. The flawergirl
carried a pink and white nose-
gay.
George T. Scribbins, London
was his brother's groomsman
and ushers were Robert J. Gal-
braith, Belleville, brother of the
bride and Barry G, Browning,
London, brother-in-law of the
bride.

For the reception in the ch-
urch parlours pink roses and
orange blossoms were used. The
bride's mother received in fl-
owered taffeta with white ac-
cessories and the groom's moth-
er wore champagne French
lace over blue taffeta, and
matching accessories. Both
wore corsages of pink cerna-
tionts.
The 'brid'e donned a beige
linen suint with blue hat and
gloves for travelling. After a
wedding trip to Algonquin
Park, the young couple will re-
side do London where the groom
is on the staff of the Bell Tel-
ephone Company. The bride
had :been teaching at Streets
viile.

'Community' Topic
Plans for Bazaar

The July meeting of the Wo-
man's Association of St. An-
drew's United Church met at
the home of Mrs. Lindsay
Smith. The president, Mrs. Bell
opened the meeting with the
WA Collect.
The topic for the month was
"Community". Mrs. Bell read
a very interesting article on
the Church in our Community.
Mrs. Mary Reid read the scrip-
ture. Mrs. 1Veakins gave the sec-
retary's report and Miss Stir-
ling gave the treasurer's re-
port.
The July 1 dinner was a de-
cided success and plans were
made for a bazaar and bake
sale and tea on Mrs. M. Tom's
lawn opening at 3 o'clock. Much
interest and comment was given
to the new sign board which
'will be seen before the impor-
tant dates this summer.
