Tips For Those
With Green Thumb
Make this a habit: place
rakes against a wall with the
prongs facing inward when you
have finished using them. It
could save an eye or a banged
head.
If you are pruning ever-
greens, try this easy clean-up
tip from the Department of
Horticulture, OAC. Cover the
ground around each tree with
a sack or old sheet. When your
job is finished, gather up the
ends of the cloth and carry the
clippings away in one trip.
When the tulips in your
garden have finished blooming,
remove them with the leaves
and roots intact to a spot in
the vegetable garden, advise
horticulturalists at OAC. This
leaves room in the borders for
other plants and still gives the
tulips a chance to recuperate
for their next blooming season.
Horticulturalists at OAC sug-
gest that a different sprayer be
used for insect and disease con-
trol than is used for weed con-
trol. Many weed killing mater-
ials cannot be cleaned readily
from the sprayer. Never use
a sprayer for water after it
has contained sprays or insecti-
cides. This can result in great
damage to the garden plants.

Anglican Church
To Stop Printing
SS Papers
After 41 years, weekly Sun-
day School papers in the Angli-
can Church of Canada will be
discontinued as a basic means
of Christian education. During
the last ten years the increased
use of work books and undated
leaflets for Sunday church
school children has gradually
placed the Sunday school pap-
ers oh the "unnecessary' list,
The good literature now
available for children in libra-
ries, schools and stores, makes
it unnecessary for the Church
to provide reading material for
the ordinary child. For those
children who are isolated, a
paper will still be produced to
meet their need.
And so the Anglican Church,
as of September next, ceases
publishing four Sunday School
papers: "The Child's Own",
"Treasure Chest", "Young Sol-
dier and Crusader", and "The
Adventurer".
