A short business session was held at which it was decided to relax a little during the sum- mer months, although. meetings will be held as usual. Deeves; travelling lone hand, Mrs, Wes Shobbroek; high gentleman, Alex McMichael; low, Gordon Henderson, A de- licious lunch was served by the hostess, HOSPITAL AUXILIARY' TO MEET' ON MAY 2 The regular meeting of the Clinton Women's Auxiliary to Clinton Public Hospital, will be held on Tuesday, May 2, in the Nurses Residence at 8 p.m. Guides of the First Clinton Girl Guide Company under the supervision of !their patrollead- .ers and company leaders were taken on hike Saturday, April 15. Upon arrival at their dest- ination they prepared fire's to cook their meal outdoors. This was successfully done with only a few burnt fingers and was enjoyed by all. After eating they cleared up the debris and followed a trail set by Patrol Leader Barbara Corey. Then they hiked back home. Fortun- ately they arrived home before the downpour, The girls were exhausted but happy to have completed part 2 of the Patrol challenge. The Guides have also com- pleted the Service to the COM- =nit? part of the Patrol Chal- lenge which inelud'es making of a doll's wardrobe and many other useful ,articles including girl's pyjamas, These articles were required by the ChildrenN Aid Society, Goderich, for, Hu- ron County. The articles will be packaged and sent to the St. Andrew's WMS Regular Meeting The Women's Missionary So- ciety of St. Andrew's Presby- terian Church met at the home of Mrs. Scott on Tuesday, April 18. The president, Mrs. Mc- Kenzie opened' the meeting with the call to worship •from Glad Tidings. Prayer was by Mrs. Farquhar. Responsive reading, Matthew 28: 1-20, was taken by Mrs. Scott. Minutes, of the last meeting were read and roll called. A loving tribute to the late Mrs. D. 3. Lane was given by Mrs. McKenzie followed by a minute of silent prayer. The study book, "Together We Provide Christian Literat- ure" was taken by Mrs. Shad- dock .anter which a hymn was sung and the meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. Shaddock. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. McKenzie. Division ,Commissioner, Miss Una MacDonald, Goderich, for transmission to the directors of the Children's Aid Society. Many Guides have visited eld- erly people in the district in the Past six weeks. On Monday, April 17 Guides were shown two interesting films, by Clare Magee, called "That They Might Live" and "No Time to Spare". The films were impressive and aroused much interest among the girls, The Guides were taught artif- icial respiration by Mr. Magee. on April 24, Mr. Magee carried! out a similar test for the Guid- es over a year ago. Following the meeting camp- fire songs were enjoyed and special entertainment by Guide Patricia Reynolds rod Guide Margaret Glidden; taps follow- ed, Cookie Day will be held on April 29. Forms were given out to Guides going to Camp Kee- wadin this year on August 6-16. Happy Doubles Tour "Huronview' The Happy Doubles 'Club of Ontario Street United Church met Wednesday evening, April 19, Mr, and Mrs. Harvey John- ston conducted the group of 37 on a tow through Huronview (the County Home), explaining the rooms and new furnishings. Mrs. Mervyn Hanley and Me. Reece demonstrated the new dishwasher and the three. "meals on wheels," The pressure cookers, soup kettle and dishes in the cup- boards were viewed. The laun- dry room with its huge sheet drying and ironing equipment was shown. The group saw the beautiful chapel with its Italian marble, light fixtures, leather upholst- ered chairs and stained glass windows. A hearty vote of thanks was extended by Ross Trewartha to the Johnsoes. At the church, business was conducted by Ross Merrill. The meeting was opened by a hymn and prayers led by the president, Mrs. Thomas Deeves. A few items of business were diseuseei and then the m.em- 'hers divided into two groups, one working on a quilt and the other group sorting and ,couet- ing food labels. Members are requested to bring in labels to. the next meeting. At that meet- ing on May 3, Miss Luella Johnston will give an illustrat- ed talk on her trip to Bermuda.
