New Business Couple
MR. AND MRS. LORNE SALZMAN, Mount For-

their son Keith, are living above the store, since
moving here from Mount Forest. Mrs. Salzman
managed a clothing store in their former home

Regular Meeting
Mrs. James Lobb was host-
ess for the SS 4 Goderich
Township Community Club for
the last meeting. President,
Mrs. William Lobb was in ch-
arge and opened the meeting
by repeating the Creed and the
Lord's Prayer in unison.
Minutes of the previous
meeting were read by Mrs. J.
Lobb and the treasurer's re-
port, read by Mrs. L. Tyndall,
showed a balance of $30.87.
The roll call was "my oldest
possession." and was respond-
ed to by 15 members present.
A list of articles sent in the
bale to the north was read and
also thank you cards were
read. A donation of $5.00 was
given to Easter Seals.
The meeting was closed with
the lvtizpah benediction. Lunch
was served by the hostess with
MTS. M. Forbes and Mrs. I.
Merrill assisting.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Ro-
bin E. Thompson, with the roll
call to be "bring your money
for the auction of the articles
in the mystery box."

Mrs. Joseph W. Carson pas-
sed away at her home, 689
Colborne Street, London, on
Friday, April 7, following a
lengthy illness.
Mrs. Carson was formerly
Rena Myrtle Beacom, of near
Bayfield, and is well known in
that area, where the family
has had summer homes for
many years.
Surviving besides her hus-
band are three daughters, Mrs.
Donald (Betty) McNamara and
Miss Lula M, Carson, both of
London and Mrs. Donald (Len-
ore) Hayman, Sarnia; three
sons, J. William Jr., John B.
and Edward, all of London and
Rev. Robert A. Carson, For-
est; 11 grandchildren, two sis-
ters, Mrs. Lula M. Elliott and
Miss Lillian Beacom, London
and one brother, William A.
Nevin Beacom, London.
Service on Monday, April 10
from the George E. Logan and
Sons funeral home, 371 Dund-
as Street, London, to Mount
Pleasant Cemetery.

Marries Wingham Girl
MR. AND MRS. MURRAY NEAL were married
on April 1 in the Wingham United Church by the
Rev. T. Garnett Husser. The bride is Dorothy
Irene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Saint, Wing-
ham, and a student at Stratford Teachers College.
Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Graydon
Neal, Clinton. Mrs. Neal will complete her .year's
studies at college. The young couple will make
their home in Clinton where the groom is employed

'the first two Saturdays in
May. The projeet is "Cottons

At the Clinton District Col-
legiate Institute on April 29,
ten clubs. will present the ex-
Whits, record books and skits
which they have prepared dur-
ing their project. Two are from
Clinton, headed by Mrs, Ron.
MacDonald and Mrs, S. Craw-
ford and by Mrs, H. Managhan.
There is one club from. Au-
burn with leaders Mrs, Don-
ald Haines and Mrs. Ed Dav-
ies, The Kippen Club is led by
Mrs, Alex McGregor and Mra.
Charles Eyre, Other clubs
meeting here will be from Cr-
editim, Dungannon, Elinavale,
Goderich, Grand Bend and Hur-
on Dale.
Similar achievement days will
be held in Wingham on May
6, when three clubs from Bel-
grave and- three from Blue-
vale, as well as two each from
Belinore and Molesworth. and
one each from Colwanosh,
Fordwich, Gerrie, Kintail,
Lakelet, St. Helens and Wing-
ham will convene.
On May 13 et Seaforth, two
clubs from Brussels, two from
Seaforth and one each from
Cranbrook, Dashwood, Ethel,
McKillop, Monorieff and Wal-
ton as well as one from Sea-
forth rural district will take
part
4-it Homemaking Clubs are
sponsored locally by the Wom-
en's Institutes, and the pro-
jects, are carried out under the
direction of Mrs. Bette Miller,
Clinton, home economist for
Huron County.

Mrs. Clare Magee was host-
ess tfor the March meeting of
the London Road Club when
ten members attended. Day to
remember was $1.13. One
thank you card was read.
On motion of Mrs. Ander-
son, Sr., seconded by Mrs. Ma-
gee, the Club will buy a film
and develop a film for Huron-
view (Huron County Home),
Mrs.. Kenneth Bennett was in
charge of the program which
consisted of two contests won
by Mrs. William Deane and
Mrs. Magee. Mrs. Bennett
showed how to decorate a
bottle or jar with string, and
to colour it.
The April meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. Harry
Plurnsteel on April 20. Roll
call will be answered by bring-
ing a gift for the penny sale.
Mrs. Anderson, Sr., is in ch-
arge of the program. Host-
esses will be Mrs. Anderson Sr.
and Helen Anderson.

The old Bargain! House on
Isaac Street has been com-
pletely remodelled and re-
decorated, and equipped with
modern lighting and a new
front. Proprietors, Mr. and
Mrs. Lorne Salzman along
with their son Keith, are Iiv-
ing in the apartment upstairs.
Coming from Mount For-
est, Clinton's new residents
bring a varied experience in
business management with
them, Mrs. Salzman manag-
ed a clothing store there,
while her husband managed
a lumber and building supply.
They were active in the
community life at Mount
Forest, where both were
members of the Cancer So-
ciety and Mrs. Salzman was
on the executive. They at-
tended the Baptist Church at
Mount iForest. Mrs. Salzman,
was also a member of the
Women's Institute there.
Mr. Salzman enjoys sing-
ing, particularly hymns and
other church music, and has,
done some work on radio at
Kitchener and has sung with
church chairs in Toronto
and in Mount Forest.
Their policy in the Bargain
House will be to bring in
well known brand name
goods at moderate prices.

t o Ladies Auxiliary to the
Clinton. Branch Royal Cana-
dian Legion on April 10. Presi-dent Mrs, W. Chambers was
all the chair, and initiated one
new member, Mrs. Eldon Yeo,
The treasurer and the vari-
ous committees gave their re-
ports, and the president an-
nounced a very busy month
ahead, with five banquets and
a smorgasbord to be catered
for,
Four teams from the Auxil-
iary will be taking part in the
annual Legion Auxiliary bowl-
ing .tounniament in Walkerton
on April 19 .and 20,
The drapes for the stage
had been hung since the last
meeting, and the ladies noted
that they look lovely,
Donations were made to the
British Sailors (Can) fund,
and to the Veterans, TB Camp
fund. It was decided to get
sin air conditioner for the kit-
chen., and briefcases.. for the
secretary and treasurer.
The members are reminded
to please keep saving their
food labels, as quite a few are
still needed, The monthly
draw, of $4 this month, was
won by Mrs. A. J. Matthews.

dion ,and harmonica were much
enjoyed, after which the April
group served a very tasty
lunch.

Plan Project For
Huronview Folk
The March Birthday party
at "Huronview", (the Huron
County Home) was sponsored
by the Londesboro Women's
Institute. Those having birth-
days were Rose Rumple, Isa-
bel Sproat, Laura Weido and
Barbara Ann Miller. The WI
members donated material and
taught the celebrants to make
their own corsages.
A program of musical num-
bers, piano, accordion, ballet
dancers and sing song followed.
Refreshments were served
highlighted with a birthday
cake.
Mrs. Mary E. Hunter
Funeral service for Mrs.
Mary Elizabeth Hunter, 89,
Clinton, who died Sunday at
the Clinton Nursing Home
were held from the Beattie
funeral home Tuesday.
She was the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William
Staubury, and the widow of
Robert Hunter,
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Emily Loucks, Minden,
Mrs. Goldwiri (Marjory) Smith,
Clinton, and one son Ernest,
Toronto.
Rev. C. S. Inder, rector of
St. Paul's Anglican Church,
Clinton, officiated.
