Kin president Ken Scott presented the trophy to the winning captain, Clinton Squirts 5--Zurich 2 In the first Squirt game at 9 a,rn. Clinton defeated Zurich 5-2. Clinton scorers were Wes Chambers, two; Greg Burns, John Gautreau and Cam Calque h.oure one each, Zurich goals were scored by Jimmy Hayter and Jimmy Hoffman, Exeter 10-Seaforth Exeter Squirts walked all over Seaforth in the other semi-final, winning 10-0. CLINTON MIDGETS 14 DEARBORN BRUINS 1 Before the evening games started, Mr. Petrere, manager of the Dearborn team, present- ed Mayor W. J. Miller with a golden trophy as a good-will gift from the City of Dearborn to the Town of Clinton. Mayor Miller also presented token gifts to the guests. Clinton Midget hockey team didn't take any pity on their Michigan opponents, winning the game 14-1. Top Clinton scorer was Bruce Cooper with four goals and three assists, which won for him the most valuable player trophy, donat- ed by Anetett Jewellers. Other scorers were: Bob Livermore, Minor Hockey Day Has Small Deficit Financially the Miner Hockey Day event last Saturday finish-ed up with a deficit of $10.87. Treasurer Ken McRae was authorized to pay all outstand- ing bills, by a group of associ- ation members meeting on Tues- day night. A meeting of the Minor Hockey Day Association will be held on Wednesday, Febru- ary 15, open to all citizens of Clinton and district. The aim is to organize committees for next year's Minor Hockey Day. Total receipts for last week- end was $337,42, made up of admissions, program sales, and donations ($10 each from the Kinsmen, Fish and Game and Legion), Expenses were for printing and advertising $61.44; meals, $156.60; use of Lions Arena $50, and $80.25 for complimen- tary hot dog tickets given to each of the 545 children in the parade. Clinton Bantams Tie Zurich Team 6-6 in Final Schedule Game Clinton Bantam hockey team tied Zurich Bantams 6-6 in the final game of the regular sched- ule played in Zurich last night. Clinton goals were scored by Don Appleby (3), Bob Batkin (2), and Gord Logan with one. Midgets End Schedule With 15-4 Victory Over Zurich Midgets The Clinton Midget hockey team wrapped up the regular schedule by handing Zurich a smashing 15-4 defeat in Zurich last night. Clinton Midgets begin group playoffs in Exeter this Satur- day night, February 4. three goals; Craig Cox, John Cooper, Laurie Colquhoun, Don Colquhoun, Mike Burns, Stan Lesnick and Borden McRae, one each. Referee was Jack Car- ter; linesmen, Duncan McNab Jr., and Gerald Holmes. CLINTON JUVENILES 8 DEARBORN MIC-MACS 3 The juvenile game, billed as the main attraction of the day, proved just that. The Mic-Macs had not been defeated this year in the Dearborn juvenile lea- gue, while the Clinton team had won seven games and tied one in their WOAA league. The game was fast and hard- played. Referees Malt Edgar, Pete Garon and John Hartley, all Clinton hockey players, were forced to call 22 penalties, 11 to to each team. With two minut- es left to play in the last period four majors were given for fighting, two to each team. Clinton's eight goals were shared by Paul Draper, Bill Murney, Bud Yeo and Ron. Liv- ermore, each with two. Mic-Mac scorers were Phil Smith, Vince Bachorek and. Dennis Keblaitis. Clinton defenceman Bill Mur- ney was judged the most valu- able player, winning the Hotel Clinton trophy. Second star went to goalie Dean Dicide, who took home the J. A native of Huron County, he served in the Second World War and was a stationary en, gineer by trade. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Albert Mero, he is survived by his wife, the former Palma Dunking; a daughter, Glenda, at home; four brothers, Frank, London Walter and Gerald, Goderich, and John, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs. John (Marg- aret) Scruton, Clinton; Mrs. Rite Chase, Goderich; and Mrs, Elaine Warner, Trenton. The body is resting at the Ball and Mutch funeral home, Clinton, where funeral service tvill be held on Friday at 2 p.m, Temporary entombment will be made in the Clinton mausoleum, In the first game of a best two out of three group finals series in Clinton Lions Arena on Tuesday night, Doug An- drews' Juvenile hockey team tied Exeter 8-8. The second game is at Exeter Friday night with the third back in Clinton on Tuesday, February 7. Clinton took a 5-2 lead in the first period and still held a 6-5 lead going into the third period. Exeter scored two goals in 38 seconds early in the third to go one up, Then Clinton got two goals within 40 seconds to take the lead.
