The regular meeting of the
Woman's ASseciatien. of Grace
United Church was held on
Wednesday afternoon last at
the home of Mrs, A. E. Town-
shend, The president, Mrs. T.
Sowerby was in charge of the
meeting. •
Scripture leesen was read by
Mrs. William Cox. Topic and
prayer by Mrs.. Sowerby. Sec-
retary's and treasurer's reports
were given. Roll call was an-
swered with the denation of
tea towel for the church kit-
chen.
Plans were made for the ham
and salad supper to be held in
the church basement on July
20, The various committees
for the supper was named'.
Talent money articles were
supplied by Mrs. Blanche Cm
and Mrs. William Townshend.
Those responsible for the July
meeting are Mrs, William Cox
and Mrs. A, E. Townshend,

The bazaar committee report
was given by Mrs. Carman
Tebbutt. It was passed to pay
the expenses in connection with
putting water in the church.
The July meeting is to be held
on the first Tuesday, one week
earlier than •usual. The meet-
ing closed with the hymn "Be-
hold the Amazing Gift of Love"
and prayer, by Mrs. Miller.

Bert Lobb and Mrs. Irvine

Mrs. Fred Middleton return-
ed home on Sunday after sev-
eral weeks in the Wellesley
Hospital, Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mid-

Middleton attended the West-
ern Ontario Aberdeen Angus
Association picnic and field day
at Blue Lake Farms of Fergus
Turnbull and Sons, near Grand
Bend, on Saturday last.

Scripture was read and Mrs,
Milan Heard gave -the cora-.
rnents on it. Mrs. Jack Yee
read the temperance piece,
titled "The Generator," Mrs.
William Norman. read an 'art-
tele on Albert Schweitzer, The
business was conducted by the
president, Mrs. Jack Yeo. The
secretary, Mrs, Harry Cudmore
read the minutes of the May
meeting and called the roll.
Mrs. Lloyd Bond said, that
starting in the fall, the Mission
Band would meet on Saturday
afternoons. The fonrth chapter
of the study book, -"Africa Dis-
turbed" and called "The Drift"
was reviewed by Mrs. J. A.
McKim, The, meeting closed
with the hyrim "Love Divine,
All Love EXcelling", and pray-
er by Mrs. Stewart Farquhar.
The Woman's Association
meeting followed, with the
president, Mrs. Reg. Miller in
the chair. The meeting opened
with the theme sang and creed,
The president read the Scrip-
ture lesson and Mrs. Ninian
Heard gave the thoughts on
it. The secretary, Mrs. William
Norman read the minutes of
the last meeting and called the
roll.

Mrs. Donald Middleton was
hostess on Wednesday after-
neon, June 15, for the annual
joint meeting of the Women's
Associations of Trinity Church,
13eyfteld, anti St. James, Mid-
dleton. The spacious rooms of
the Middlete)n home were
beautifully decorated with SeaS-
onal flowers throughout.
The president, Mrs. Milton
Steepe warmly welcomed the
eight members from Hayfield
and 16 from St. james, She
epened the meeting with an -in-
spiring poem, followed by all
singing the WA hymn, "The
Love of Christ Constraineth."
The members' prayer and the
Lord's Prayer were repeated in
unison.
The Scripture reading was
given by Mrs. Q. Cole from
Matt. 7: 1-14. In the. absence
of 'the secretary, Mrs. Arnold
Miller read the minutes and the
correspondence. Roll call was
answered by a favorite Biblical
quotation. 'The treasurer's re-
port was given by Mrs. A.
Dutot,. Mrs. 0. Cote read a
"thank-you". card from Mrs.
Fred Middleton,
Mrs. Charles Cooper present-
ed the Dorcas report with a
letter from the Rev. Zimmer-
mann of the Mohawk Institute,
Brantford, thanking the ladies
for the clothes sent,
Mrs. Joseph Storey gave a
lovely piano instrumental of
"Tell me the old, old story,"
with variations.
Mrs. Ray Wise gave the
prayer partner's prayer and
also read a news letter from
W.M.S.
The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of Goshen United Church
held the June 16 meeting at the
home of the president, Mrs.
Elmer Hayter. She opened the
meeting with the theme, "The
Sermon on the Mount". Mrs.
Russell Erratt presided at the
piano for the hymn.
Mrs. Jean McKinley gave a
meditation on the power and
the present. 16 calls were made
to the sick during the month.
A thank you card was received
from Murray McBride. The
next meeting will take the form
of a picnic which is an annual
event and this year will be on
July 17 at the church grounds.
A duet "God Hath Not Pro-
mised" was sung by Mrs. Elmer
Hayter and Mrs. Anson McKin-
ley accompanied by Mrs. Bruce
Keys.
Mrs. Russell Erratt gave a
reading on Christian Steward-
ship, Mrs. Robert Peck and
Mrs. Jack Eckel read some in-
teresting readings for the study
part of the program. The
meeting closed with prayer by
Mrs. Richard Robinson.
Mission Band
Goshen Mission Band met on
Sunday morning, June 19 with
Mrs, Clare McBride and Mrs.
Jack Eckel in charge. Dianne
Peck was at the piano.
The worship period included
the theme by Donna Peck; call
to worship by Gerald Hayter;
leading the Scripture by Larry
McKinley; Scripture by Robert
McBride and prayer by Wayne
Peck; Karen McKinley took up
the offering.
Jacqueline Peck read the min-
tes and Robert Hayter marked
the roll call attendance for 34
children. Two members had
birthdays. Larry McKinley gave
the treasurer's report. The story
"Yalaas' Present" was on Ni-
geria with the map colouring
by Diane McKinley.
Mary Margaret Armstrong
distributed the "World Friends"
magazines and the meeting clos-
ed with the Mission Band Pur-
pose.
YPU Anniversary
The Young Peoples Union of
Goshen and Varna held their
anniversary service in Goshen
United Church on Sunday even-
ing, June 19. Rev. Robert S.
Hiltz of Main Street United
Church, Exeter, was the guest
speaker, assisted by Rev. T. 3.
Pitt.
As of March, 1960, ten per-
cent of all Canadians in the 1-8
to 21 age group are attending
universities.

furlough -letter was most inter,
esting. Miss Hawkins visited
15 countries en route home,

Mrs. Edward Wise gave
reading pertinent to .this "re-.
fegeo year," which ends offic-
ially, June 30, 1960, entitled
"The Village of Heavenly
Light," re a model blind car-
enmity.
The highlight of the after-
noon was the report of the 73rd
annual meeting of the Diocese
of Huron and was ably given
by Mrs. Emerson Heard and
Mrs. R. J. Larson, Hayfield.
Mrs Heard gave a detailed
report of the first day's high-
lights, including the speech by
Dr. Angus McQueen, recently
returned frtaa Africa, The' WA
thankaffering alone amounted
to $10,144. 29.
Mrs. Larson reported the re-
mainder of the sessions and
stated that Mrs. Calder is en-
tering her 12th year as presi-•
dent of -the WA Diocese of Hur-
on.
Bishop Heber Wilkinson, for-
merly of the Diocese of Amrit-
sar, the Punjah, was also a
guest speaker, "His former
church at Amritsar was voted
$1,000," stated Mrs. Larson.
As none of the Middleton
ladies had been able to attend
the annual, they were very
grateful to Mrs. Heard and
Mrs. Larson for their vivid de-
scription.
The senior grades of SS 7,
Stanley (Pam Line) and the
teacher Miss Joanne Robinson,
enjoyed a bus trip to Niagara
Falls on Friday, June 17, leav-
ing at 7 a.m. and returning home
about midnight.
