The annual meeting 'of the Mir-
on County Advisory Board to the
Canadian National:, Institute for
the Blind; held in t.+ Parr
ish Hall, re-elected James H. Kin-
kead, God'erich, as chairman,
Mr. Kinkead, Inspector of Pub-
lic Schools for North. Huron, holds
the position as chairman of the
Lightning
Lightning struck the home of
Edwand 3. Roberts, R R3, Kippen,
on Thursday morning 'during a
severe electrical storm, The light-
ning ran along a hydro wire into
the house, struck a table lamp
in a bedroom, burning the drapes
in the archway, 'a mattress, and
causing extensive damage by
smoke and water. The house is
a brick one situated on top of a
hill: Mr. Roberts is employed with
the Bell Telephone Company,
Hensall Fire Brigade was on the
scene.
.Two Hurt
An accident two miles and a
half south of Herman on Highway
4 Wednesday, June 1, sent two
people to hospital, and caused $1,-
200 damages. Involved in the
crash was a truck owned by Can-
adian Liquid. Air. Company, driven
by. Fenton Lafortune, 25, London,
and Albert Etherington, 72, RR 1,
Hensall. Both were travelling
south. Ethertngton had stopped
at intersection going to turn east
when his car was struck on the
right rear by LaPortune, Mr. and
Mrs. Etherington were admitted
to South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
for x-ray and later released. Dr.
M. G. Gans. attended, and Con-
stable D. H. Westover, Exeter, in-
vestigated.
Large Bale
A bale of lovely' used clothing
valued at $804 and weighing 400
pounds packed by members of the
Woman's Missionary Society of
the United Church on June 1 will
be forwarded to Toronto for the
United Church Overseas Relief.
Mrs. Albert Alexander was con-
vener for this project.
The'First Hensall Brownie Pack
will attend the Brownie Revel at
Zurich on Saturday, June 11. Re-
presented also will be two packs
from Exeter and one from Zurich.

The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of the United Church met
June 2 with Mrs T. Coates' group
in charge. Scripture passages
were read by Mrs, H, Weeks, and
the devotional was taken by Mrs.
Coates. Mrs. A. Clark sang a
pleasing solo and Mrs. C. Winlaw
reviewed the closing chapter of
the study book, "Africa Awakes".
President Mrs. E. Rowe pre-
sided for the business period. An
invitation to Cannel Presbyterian
Church WMS 35th anniversary. on
Tuesday, June 14 was accepted
and the date of the annual Baby
I3-and -party for Thursday, June
23, 3 p.m., was 'announced. July
and August meetingS will be with-
drawn for the holidays. Mrs. E.
Sproat was pianist.

people -are residents at the Hall.
The meeting accepted the 1960
campaign quota as $6,000, an in-
crease of $850 over that of last
year.
About 75 people attended the
dinner and meeting held at St.
Paul's Anglican Church Hall—
many of those present being the
blind from throughout the county.
Greetings were extended by the
Mayor of Clinton, Herbert Bridle,
from the Reeve of Clintofi, Mel
Crich on behalf of the Warden of
the county who Was- unable to be
present. Mrs. Otto Popp, Dungan-
non, president of -the District W.
I. for Huron County,
A report of service rendered to
blind people in. Huron County as
presented by E. F. Wheeler, and
L. D. Carroll, District Field Sec-
retary, and Assistant Field Sec-
retary, respectively, revealed that
there are 75 blind registered. The
total number of prevention cases
was listed -at 35, While 63 calls
were made by blind field secretar-
ies and volunteer workers to aid
newly'-blinded people in home and
community . adjustments. Other
services given included social,
honie teaching, eye services, sales-
room, library and publishing de-
partinent, .pre,,school, recreation,
concessions, allowances and pre-
vention.

Corporal ,JOhn Cannichael, a
native of Hensall, who served 23
years with the Ontario Provincial
Police, mostly at' Glencoe -and
London, was presented with a
