gree of doctor of laws at the
spring convocation of the Univer-
sity of Western Ontario On June

J. H. L. Bourne
The death occurred suddenly,
Wednesday afternoon, March 30,
at his home, Maria Street, Clin-
ton, of John H. L. Bourne, 77.
He was born in Sussex, England,
where he was ,a hotel manager.
He came to Canada 14 years ago,
and for the past six years lived
in. Clinton.
' He is survived by his wife, the
former Cecilia Winnifred Bullas-
bach; by-one son, John, Mitchell.
Service was from the Beattie
funeral home, 55 Rattenbury
Street East, Clinton, Friday at
9.30 a.m. Burial was in the Ro-
man Catholic plot, Clinton ceme-
tery.

Baptist Young Folk
Meet on Sunday
The Baptist Young People met
at the church here on Sunday
evening, April 3, 'for their regular
meeting. The boys were in charge
and Hugh Lobb presided.
Scripture lessons were taken by
Wayne Dupee and Dennis Shipp,
Don Cochrane gave the medita-
tion and led in prayer.
The offering was taken by
Douglas- Liebold, A Bible quiz
on the book of Matthew was held.
The next meeting will be in
charge of the girls under the
leadership of Sherry Cochrane,

Mrs. John G. Gibbings
Service was conducted from
Ball and Mutch funeral home,
153, High Sqeet, Clinton; on Sun-
day afternoon, April' 3, for Mrs.
John G, Gibbings, who died on
Thursday, Mar'Ph 31, in her 85th
year. Rev. Grant Mills officiated
and interment was in Clinton
Cemetery.
Pall-bearers were Leslie Ball,
Stanley Ball, Melbourne Ball,
Fred Vodden, Dave Petrie , and
Norman Wright. The flower-

Tasker, Doug Gibbings, Bill Gib-
bings and Bob Gibbings.
Mrs. Gibbings was born Mary
Ball, on June 28, 1875, in 1:1u1-
lett Township, the daughter of
Sarah Painter and John Ball. On
July 9, 1902, she was married to
John, G. Gibbings. They farmed
on the 6th and 7th Concessions
of Hullett for over 40 years, and
had resided in. Clinton for 14
year. Mrs. Gibbings was a mem-
ber of Ontario Street United
Church. She had been in failing
health for some time.
Surviving besides her husband
are two sons: Warren, Tucker-.
smith; Percy, on the home farm;
two daughters, Mrs. W. (Flossie)
Tasker; Mrs. Leslie (Evelyn)
brother, Amos Ball, Goderich; 11
grandchildren and 17 •great grand-
children.
The funeral was attended by
relatives and friends from Hamil-
ton, Stratford, Toronto, Mitchell,
London, Paris, Blyth and Gode-
rich, as well as from the Clinton
area.
