dinner party at the home of their
son-in-law, Maurice Bean when
their .family helped them cele-
brate their 40th wedding anniver-
sary.
Mrs. Merritt was • the former
Gertrude Marshall, Walton. They
have two daughters, Mrs. Maurice
(Maureen) Bean, Auburn and Mrs.
.Brock (Janis). Vodden, Niagara
Falls; also, one grandson, Dana
Bean. One son, Benny, passed a-
way in infancy.
Twenty-six guests. sat down to
the dinner after which a social
time was spent. Many messages of
congratulations were received and
they were presented with many
gifts. Guests were present from
London, Clinton, Seaforth, Walton,
Auburn and Blyth,
Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer and
Mrs. Kenneth McDougall assisted
in serving.
Disney-Cowan
Mrs. Cecil Cowan (Julia Fran-
ces) was married to George G.
Disney recently at St. Philip and
St. Stephen Spiscopal Church, De-
troit, by the ReV, Wilfred Holmes-
Walker. The couple were attended
by Mr. and Mrs. Beverley French,
also of Detroit. The couple are
spending their honeymoon in Flor-
ida. Mr. Disney is well known
here as, he has visited often with
his grandmother, Mrs. George
Beadle and other of his 'relatives.

Huron. County Airport Commit-
tee reported on March 24, the
sale of the second hangar
and drill hall at Sky Has-
hour Airport, and 'some land a-
round the bniltlings for $18,000,
Still Owned by the county are No.
1 hangar, an 8-bay 'garage; vatrk-
shop, dwelling and administration
building. They are negotiating
with Keith Hopkinson regarding
the sale of the balance of the pro
perty.
Alex Chesney was re-engaged
as county weed inspector, with an
increase in salary from 90 cents
to one dollar per hour, plus eight
cents mileage. The agricultural
committee is ready to co-operate
with the Junior Farmers on a sign
project at highway entrances 'to
the county, to the extent of $550.
County mill rate is to be based
at 6.9 mills for general purposes
and 7 mills for highway purposes,
making a total of 1.3.9 mills this
year. Mileage for county council-
lors on county business was set at
ten cents; changes in the salary
schedule included a maximum for
local director of the Children's
Aid Society at $7,000; and in-
crease far county librarian to be
$250, not $100 per year.
Curator J. H. Neill, of the
county museum will be paid $3,-
000 to cover cost of the CNR en-
gine now at the museum; • $2,000
was authoriied for an addition to
the muse-inn started in 1959; Har-
ry McCreath was appointed assis4r
tent curator for $100 a year.
Henry T, Young, Clinton is do-
ing work at the registry office, at
tendered price of $2,915 plus 35
cents per square foot if old ce-
ment had to come 'out,

Various Lions Clubs of Huron
are working on a project to put
pillow speakers in rooms of the
Huron Cetinty Home for bed care
patients. Total cost of $6,000 had
been taken out of the original
plans for the addition.
Grade S class from Goderich
Public School attended the March
session of Huron County Council
last Thursday. Councillors and
Warden John Durnin are quite
anxious to have other classes
come and observe the sessions at
first hand. All that is necessary
is for the teacher to contact John
Berry, clerk, ahead of time, so
that arrangements can be made.
