Mr. Errold Drummond’s butcher ■shop now presents la very handsome appearance after being neatly paint­ ed and redecorated. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. John Reid, of London, in the loss of their infant son whose death occurred at his home in London on Saturday' pneumonia. On Saturday at noon the fire de­ partment had a call to the 'home of Mr. Wm. Otterbein’s, where there was a small fire starting from the chimney. It was quickly put out and not much damage done. The Sunday School Christmas Entertainment of the United Church will be held on Friday evening, December 21st in the Town Hall. A good program will be given of choruses, drills, songs, readings, pantomines and a short play. The committee in chage are taking great pains in making the entertainment a great success. The play which was given in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening last entitled “Who Kissed Barbara” by t'lie young people of Staffa, was fairly well attended. The play was given well and was greatly enjoyed by those present. After the play a Fagent entitled “The .Lost Church” was also presented.' The A.Y.P.A. of St. Paul’s Angli­ can church held their meeting in the b'asement of the church on Mon­ day evening. Miss E. Johnson was -■convenor over the meeting. After the devotional and business part of the meeting Mr. Geo. Follick gave a very interesting and instructive address on “The Five Points of the Christmas Star” which was greatly- enjoyed by all present. The meet­ ing was then closed with ’ prayer. A quiet wedding was .solemnized at t'lie Kippen manse on Saturday .afternoon last when Rev. Love, of Hillsgreen, •short honeymoon, trip couple will reside on fine farm. The Welfare Youth met Presbyterian church held a very interesting meeting on Monday even­ ing with a large attendance. After the devotional part of the meeting the president gave a> short talk on the first catechism; readings by May Little, Beryl Pfiaff and Olive Walker instrumental by Margaret McLaren, solos by Mrs. Jas. Patterson and Mary Haiser all of which were great­ ly enjoyed. The business part of the meeting was held after which the benediction was repeated. The scripture lesson was read responsively and led by Marion Sin­ clair after which the collection was taken by Diary Hemphill. Hennessey, who passed away Monday morning at 3 a.in. in Joseph’s Hospital, London. Mr. Hennessey was widely known in the vicinity and his untimely death will be a great shock to his many friends. He was always of a cheerful disposition and much be­ loved by ’his friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed from this community.
