Norman Cook, who recently had his tonsils removed, and a slight facial operation performed in a To­ ronto Hospital recently, is progress­ ing favorably, much to the pleasure of his relatives and friends. Mr. Brown, of Goderich, chairman of the Laymen’s Association assisted by some of the laymen of St. Paul’s Anglican church took the services in the Anglican church on Sunday last in the absence of Rev. Mr. Jones, and were very largely attended. Mr. Alex Murdock moved his pool room to the rooms over Mrs. Bell’s Millinery shop. Mr. Ezra Kipfer is moving into the rooms where the pool-room was, and Mr. G. W. Wren, of Hibbert is moving into the house vacated by Mr. Kipfer. The services in the United' church o Sundy last were very largely at-* tended. Rev. Mr. Erwin, of Cen­ tralia had charge of the services and which Mrs. Chas. The delegation consisting' of Rev. Mr. Jones, Misses Grace and Jean Stone, Miss Emma Johnson, Mrs. Robinson and Miss Margaret Drum­ mond from St. Paul’S Auglicen church, who have been attending the Dominion Conference in Windsor, returned home on Monday evening. Miss Margaret Murray, R.N., of New York city, who ha.s been visit­ ing her mother, Mrs, George Mur­ ray and sisters, Mrs. (Dr.) John Lindsay and Miss Georgie, all of London, was here recently visiting G. 'Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hill, who have been guests at the Sweet home during the past two wekes, left on Moinday last for Cranbrook, B. C. Mr. Hill thinks we have a “whale” of a district around Olds, and if he had not passed :so many mile-stones in the journey of life, he would sure­ ly be glad to .swell our census. He has a farm down east, so his kudos regarding our district make them the more appreciated. The contract for wireing the par­ sonage for hydro has been awarded to L. J.'Hennessey, of Exeter. The plowing match held on Fri­ day under the Mt. Pleasant Plow­ men’s Association was a big affair. There being 40 entries for horses and 5 entries for tractors. The plow­ ing was of a high standard and in many cases would equal that of the Provincial match held at London re­ cently. Tiie judges were unable to complete the work that evening and had to concert in the success finish the next day. The held in the Russeldale hall evening was also a grand and drew a large crowd. Mr. Brock, of the International Harvesters Co., was in town on Mon­ day and Tuesday of this week. On Thursday evening of this week a social evening, under the auspices of the Women’s Association will be held in the. basement of the church commencing at S o’clock. A good program will be given after which lunch will be served.. All members of the congregation are invited and each family is rquested to bring either sandwiches, pie or cae.
