Holy Communion was administer­ ed in 'St. Paul’s Anglican church on Sunday last, it being Wliit Sunday, and was largely attended. The pas­ tor Rev. Mr. Jones delivered excel­ lent sermons for the occasion. Our Orangemen are making great preparations for a big celebration to be held in Hensall on the Twelfth of July and the committees in charge are doing all in their power to make this celebration a great success. The many friends of Mrs. Lee Hedden will be sorry to learn that she has been confined to her room with a severe attack of tonsilitis. Miss Ethel Murdock is assisting in the Post Office during Mrs. Hed­ den’s absence. , Anniversary services will be ob­ served in Carmel Presbyterian .church on Sunday, June 3rd. Rev. Mr. McCullock, of Kincardine, will ' be the speaker for the day. The choir will render some special music for the occasion. Mrs. Bertha Bell t accompanied her brother-in-law and sister. Dr. and Mrs. Cawthorpe, to Tavistock after their visit here and went with them to Toronto to attend the oratorical contest there where some ten thou­ sand jn number were in attendance. Master Clarence McNaughton, eld-- est son of M’r. and Mrs. Lorne Re­ Naughton of the Thames Road lias been seriously ill with pneumonia, but .his many friends are pleased to learn that he is now out of* danger, and is getting along nicely, grandfather Mr. Wm. Laren family visited him on Monday. A Court of Revision on the assess­ ment roll was held in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall on Mon­ day evening. The Reeve and Coun­ cil acted as the Revising Board. A number of appeals against the as­ sessment were entered and quite a number of adjustments made, and also a number of new assessments of business. The Court then adjourned to meet again on the 15th of June if necessary. The Council this week are starting to gravel the road, quite a number of teams being engaged. UNITED CHURCH ANNIVERSARY Anniversary Services were observ­ ed in the United church on .Sunday last, the church being filled to ca­ pacity both morning and evening. Rev. Mr. Morley, of Toronto, de­ livered an excellent sermon, special for the occasion at the morning ser­ vice, and in the evening gave tlie re­ cital of Ben Hur, which was listened to with keen interest by the large congregation present. DEATH OF EDWARD RESTEMEYEll Mr. Edward Restemeyer passed away at his home on Sunday, May 26th following an illness that lasted for about two years although he was confined to his bed only about three weeks. The deceased was ag­ ed 49 years. He is survived by his bereaved widow, two sons, his par­ ents, three brothers and one sister. The funeral was held Wedneday af­ ternoon conducted by Rev. W. Ness of the Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member. The in­ terment took place in the Lutheran cemetery. and Mrs. visited in Raymond Robt. From early morning all roads brought visitors, who swelled the crowd at the park in the afternoon to about 1,500 and filled the con­ cert hall in the evening to capacity. A dance concluded a busy and happy day. A parade, forming at the west end of the town, marched through to the London road and out to the park, where Reeve Robert Higgins gave a brief address of welcome. At the head of the parade wore hundreds of school children from Hensail and surrounding district. After the children came the firemen, making a smart showing, and then floats and decorated autos, decoarted bicycles and an old stage coach that had done duty from .Lucan in the early days. At the park was a full program of athletics and great interest was tak­ en in the appearance of Billy Struth­ ers, champion horseshoe tosser, who. with his mate, both of Sarnia, gave an exhibition of their carried Off first honors, place went to Hensall men Boa and Lloyd Venner. Turner, of Green­ way, became the bride of Mr. Geo, Hodgson, son of Mrs. Hodgson and the late Robert Hodgson, of Brins­ ley and Miss Myrtle Rock, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rock, of Greenway was wed to Mr. Ralph Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Turner. Miss Turner wore a gown of sand georgette and lace while Miss Rock's dainty dress was of beige lace. Each wore accesor- ies to match and carried bouquets of roses and wliit? peonies, and wr tra­ velling they each wore navy blue en­ semble suits. They enjoyed a motor trip to Lon­ don, Buffalo and Niagara from which point they had a boat trip to Toronto later resuming their mo­ tor trip to Hamilton and Burlington. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. J. Turner entertained on Thursday ev­ ening and Mr. and Mrs. A. Rock on Friday evening in their home. Only the immediate familes were present. Mr. Cumming, of Ailsa Craig preached two eloquent sermons that were lis­ tened to with much interest by the congregations. Mi;<, Fulton Irvin and wife were in Arkoha last week attending a funeral to which Mr. Irwin was Called. He was also called to Lon­ don on Moriday of this week on a similiar mission. He goes from there on to conference in Walker­ ville. . The W.M.S. will have charge of the morning service next Sunday. In addition to the program there will be a W. M. S. choir. Mrs. O. week and Fletcher’s improved i home. .THE LATE MRS. WILSON The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. J. Wilson whose wife passed away at the home of her daughter near Strathroy on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Wilson had been a respected resident of Centralia for many years, living opposite the Cen­ tralia church. About five weeks ago she went Jo visit with her dau­ ghter. Mrs. Brown was quite ill last spent several days hospital. She is and has returned in Dr. much to her Ernest Grosvenor, at whose home she died. She had been suffering from heart trouble and recently gangerine developed which caused her death. Her maiden name was Catherine Boland. Besides her husbnd she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grosvenor and Mrs. Frank Aldswortli. of Kit­ chener, also five grandchildren. She has two brothers, John and William Boland residing in” the States. The funeral took place Wednesday af­ ternoon interment in Strathroy ceme­ tery.
