Ontario SI:reef .Has Christmas Concert A very anPreciative audience gathered Monday night in Ontario. Street United Church Sunday School auditorium to witness what was described as one of the best Christmas concerts for sev- eral years. Each number on the program showed t h e careful training given by. the 20 leaders and teachers of the school. Opening with a musical inter- lude by the orchestra under the direction of Nelson McClinchey and closing with the arrival of Santa Claus to the joyous, music of Jingle Bells, the program was filled with a great variety of skits and songs depicting the brightness and gaiety 'of Christmas. the gree- diness of Scrooge, the love of peo- ple filled with Christmas spirit and the power, of Jesus to change the lives of men. There was never a dull mom- ent with the scene changing quick- ly from the sublime to the ridicu- louS, from music to dialogue' and from' comedy to drama. As usual the program was well in hand under the capable chair- manship of Robert Elliott, super- intendent of the school who kept things moving. Lighting was han- dled by William Gibbings, Brock Olde, Jim Mair and .Rey. Grant Mills. • A very important event of the evening was the announcement that Mrs. Charles Elliott's class of 15 "teen age girls had given up their exchange of gifts to raise a fund of 815 to be sent to CARE. The concert gave a part to every pupils of the school and all de- partments from the nursery class- to the Bible class took part. The following teachers and leaders had charge of the prepar- ing of the program: nursery de- partment led by Marilyn Potter and Gladys Habkirk, assisted by Mrs. -Alvin Lobb; junior girls led by Mrs. Shobbrook; primary boys led by Mrs:Douglas Ball; primary girls led by Miss Olive Johnston and Mrs. Ernest Brown; senior boys and girls led by Mrs. Francis Powell. Primary boys led by Mrs. W. Hoggart; junior boys led by Mrs. Bud Graham assisted by Robert Elliott; intermediate girls led by Mrs. Charles Elliott assisted by Mrs. Bert Gray and Mrs. Harry Plurnsteel; junior girls led by Mrs. Sly and Mrs. Ross Merrill; prim- ary boys led by Ross yferrill; in- termediate girls led by Mrs. G. Mills.
