Anglican Gnild Meets
The Guild of St, Mark's Angli-
can Church met at the home of
the president, Mrs. Thomas Hag.,
gitt, Pianist was Mrs. Gordon R.
Taylor. Prayers were taken by
Mrs. Clifford Brown. Scripture
lesson, Psalm 41, was read by
Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell. A bea-
utilful, solo was sang by Mrs.
Taylor, accompanied by Mrs. Ro-
bert J. Phillips.
Mrs. Ed. Davies gave a very
inspiring Thanksgiving message
reminding the ladies of all the
good things they enjoy. Mrs. Geo-
rge Schneider gave a reading 'The
Unwelcome Guest", followed by
the singing of "My God I Thank
Thee". The minutes were read by
Mrs. Ed, Davies. Mrs. Gordon
Taylor, treasurer, gave the finale,
clad statement, Roll call was an,
swered by all repeating a verse
of Scripture containing thanks.
Plans were completed for the
church organ which has been re-
paired, also for the annual con-
gregational supper which will be
held in November, After a suc-
cessful auction a delicious lunch
was served by Mrs. Haggitt as-
sisted by Mrs. Clifford Brown.
United Thankoffering
Truth and Freedom was the
theme for the autumn thankoffer-
ing in the Sunday School room of
Knox United Church. Guests were

He spoke on the refugee problem
in the world today and said that
the freedom of the West is the
big attraction for the New Can-
adians. He told of ,the work of
the World Connell of ClillTches,
how they are working to win the
World to Christianity and how
thankful every Canadian should
be, Mrs. Fred Toll thanked the
speaker. Lunch was served,
Thanks was extended to the lad-
les and the speaker by represen-
tatives of all the guest societies
present, Mrs. Oliver Anderson,
the president, replied. Over 60

Fall Thankoffering
The annual fall thankoffering
of the Presbyterian Women's
Missionary Society was held in
the Sabbath School room of the
church with the first vice-presi-
dent, Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson in
charge, Mrs, Duncan MacKay
was at the piano. Rev. D. J. Lane
led in prayer and the Scripture
lesson, Psalm 118, was read by
Mrs. John Graham.
The meditation was given by
Miss Minnie Wagner, Mrs. Alvin
Leatherland and Mrs, Keith Me-
ehan, followed by prayer by Mrs.
Frank Raithby. A musical selec-
tion was sung by eight Goderich

of six million people. Just six
years ago the population was five
million, and 14 years ago it was
four million, Prime Minister the
Honourable Leslie M. Frost made
the announcement of this as a
"major milestone in Ontario hist-

Walkerburn Club
The Walkerburn Club met at
the home of Mrs. Arie Duizer.
The president, Mrs. George Sch-
neider opened the meeting. Prayer
was by Mrs. Leonard Archam-
bault. The minutes were read by
Mrs. Ted Hunking. Roll call was
answered by each member telling
when and where they joined the
club.
The lucky draw was won by
Mrs. Lloyd McClinchey. The pro-
gram of contests and quizzes was
conducted by Mrs, L. Archam-
bault and Mrs. Percy Vincent.
Plans were completed for the bus
trip to Kitchener on October 15
when the club will be guests of
the Chamber of Commerce and
also attend Bazaar on TV.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Wil-
liam Hunking, Mrs. Ted Hunking,
Mrs. Joe Hunking and Mrs. James
Jackson. The program for the
October meeting will be planned
