ed six runs, Dee Ladd led off
with a triple and came all the
way home on a passed ball. Roger
Cummings and Don Lockhart
walked. Bob Livermore singled to
drive in one ran. John Jacob struck
out for the second out, but Engel-
stad walked to fill the bases; this
brought up. Ron Livermore who
promptly unloaded a long triple
to clear the sacks. Charles Bart-
liff doubled to drive in Livermore,
and Ladd ended the inning by
striking out,
Clinton added three more runs
in the third on three hits, and a
walk. Then increased their lead
in the fifth and seventh when they
scored four more runs.
Then came the big eighth inning
when they plated seven more runs.
Pickett was the first out, then
Cummings doubled, Allen was safe
on an error, and Livermore singl-
ed; Jacobs singled to drive in two
runs, Engelstad walked; Ron
Liveromre got on base by a field-
er's choice; Bartliff got on via an
error with two runs scoring, then
Ladd singled to drive in two more
runs, and later scored on a passed
ball. Cummings struck out to re:-
tire the side.
The next game will be played in
Southampton on Saturday after-
noon at three o'clock.

Mr. and Mrs. William Speed and
Becky, Dearborn, Mich., called on
friends in the village one day
last week,
Miss Marjory Monaghan, Toron-
to, caem on Saturday to be the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. William
Metcalfe for a week after a trip
to Mexico.
Austin McCurdy and family, who
have occupied J. E. Howard's house
on Louisa Street, have moved into
the cottage on Bayfield Terrace,
which he recently purchased from
R. Tarbot, Ann Arbor.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Long and
baby son, London, are holidaying
at Wheel Inn. Mrs. Long's sister,
Gwen Baker, is with them.
Mrs. Michael Barber spent two
weeks with her mother, Mrs. R.
Simons. F/L and Mrs. R. Simons
left on Saturday to motor to Bag-
otville, Que., with Mrs. Barber for
a week's vacation. Mrs. Simon's
mother, Mrs. M. E. Beaudoin,
Windsor, and Mr. Simon's grand-
mother, Mrs. J. Carr, are caring
for the two children at "Shangri-
la" during their absence.
Stuart Sturgeon accompanied by
his father-in-law Bernard Davis,
Preston, spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Sturgeon. Also guests on Sunday
were Mr. and Mcs, Dennis Bis-
back, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Anderson, sons Paul and Francis,
Science Hill; Francis remained for
a few holidays with his grand-
parents.

Juveniles Score Easy Victory Last Night,
Pile Up 20.2. Score Over Southampton
Clinton Juvenile ball team open-
ed their quest for an .0)3A Juvenile
"C" title last night with a re-
sounding 20-2 victory over South-
ampton on the local diamond.
Ronnie Livermore again supplied
the punch for the locals as he
banged put a single, double and
triple to drive in seven runs.
Dee Ladd came through with a
triple and two singles, Ken Engel-
stad and Bob Livermore had two
hits each, while Jacob, Bartliff,
Pickett, Cummings and Lockhart
each had singles.
Engelstad pitched the distance
for the Legion team and allowed
only two runs on four hits. He

propels the craft forward); canoe
tilting (two boys, one paddling
and the other on the gunwales
holding a pole with a boxing glove
on the end, try to defeat the oth-
ers by knocking their boxer into
the water), and boat tipping
(where two boys race out in a
canoe, tip it upside down, tip
it the right side up again with no
water and race back). Then just
before dinner another short can-
oe trip was taken around the lake,
At 2.15 p.m, the events got
under way and the following were
the winners: single canoe race,
Pete Thompson, Lion Patrol;
feet first race, Barry Elliott, pan-
ther patrol; rowboat race, Barry
Eliott, Panther Patrol; canoe tilt-
ing, Ray Wells and Steve Cook,
Wolverine Patrol; boat tipping,
Ross Sturdy and Barry Elliott,
Panther Patrol; free style swim,
Ross Sturdy, Panther Patrol;
gunwale bouncing, Ross Sturdy,
Panther Patrol.
As the Panther Patrol gained
the most points, they rated a bag
of marshmallows, which they
shared with the troop. Another
good sing-song was held at the

In addition, Ball and Mutch is

a prize, They are Aylmer, Chat-

el, Tillsonburg and Clinton. Some-
one who visits the Ball and Mutch

Draws will be made on Satur-
day, October 31, and the polisher
and saw will be awarded then.
Winning tickets will be sent to
the IRA head office in Toronto,
and the grand prize winner of a

pioneering day and three altar

a visiting Scout from Sinicoe,

camp staff was expected for sup-
per so special pains were taken to
make it worth his while, a potato
salad, a vegetable salad, cold
meats and a fruit salad were all
prepared for the meal but.unfor-
tunately it had to be a short one
as we had to rise early Sunday
for the breaking of camp. As it

Rev. and Mrs. A. J.
Eagle
The Rev, arid Mrs. Arthur J.
Eagle, Toronto, both died on Sun-
day night in a two-car crash, as
they were returning to Midland
from Dundalk where the minister
had taken a Sunday sermon. They
are the parents of the Rev. Glen
Eagle, Sarnia, formerly of Ont-
ario Street United Church, here.
Surviving besides Glen are two
daughters, Mrs. Leslie Franklin,
Mimico and Miss Betty, at home.
The couple had been holiday-
ing at Midland, and the accident
occurred about 12 miles east of
that town. Mr. Eagle has held
the pastorate at Chalmers United
Church, Toronto, for 20 years.
From the other car, the 16-year-
old driver and his two 18-year-old
passengers both were taken to
hospital with minor injuries.
