been a patient in Scott Memorial
Hospital, Seaforth, for some weeks
was able to leave last week and is
now at the McNair Nursing Home,
Seaferth.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Oddleifson,
London, were at their home in
the village for the weekend. Mrs.
Oddlefson remained to spend this
week here,
Mrs. Clayton Guest, Leaside,
came on Wednesday of last week
to visit her sister, Mrs. Malcolm
Toms,
Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay went
to London on Sunday with their
younger son, Donald, who entered
Victoria Hospital to undergo eye
surgery on Monday. They return-
ed home on Wednesday.
Bayfield Baptists
Hold Annual Meet
Members and adherents of the
Hayfield Baptist Church met in
the church on January 28, to con-
duct their annual meeting. Pastor.
I, Bodenham acted as moderator.
The church clerk gave a report
on the spiritual growth of the
church during the past year. He
read the names of 19 living chart-
er members and 18 new members
added to the church roll. The re-
port of 19 souls saved was very
encouraging, 20 baptisms by total
immersion were reported.
The secretary-treasurer gave an
encouraging financial statement,
The church officers were elected
to office. The pastor then turned
the meeting over to Arthur Hell,
the newly elected chairman of the
board,
The church clerk was instructed
to send a letter to Pastor Boden-
ham informing him that his serv-
ices had been greatly appreciated
and that the church had unanim-
ously recalled him,
The affair commenced with the
Flag Break and Scout Silence,
The Rev. B, J. B. Harrison, rector
of Trinity Anglican Church said
the grace.
The toast to Her Most Gracious
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was
proposed by the Rev. C. L. Pea-
cock, pastor of St. Andrew's Unit-
ed Church, responded to by the
singing of the National Anthem,
The toast to the memory of Lord
Baden-Powell of Gilwell was given
by Ted Turner, Troop Leader.
During the program Scouter
Ernest Dempster, District. Com-
missioner for Training for the Hu-
ron District gave the award of
the Bronze Arrowhead for profic-
iency in the Winter Training
Course recently held at Exeter
to Patrol Leaders Ronald. Scotch-
mer and Howard Scotchmer. Scou-
ter Glen Lodge, District Commis-
sioner.for Huron District gave out
the following awards: Mrs. Robert
Turner, Cub Master, a certificate
for Basic Training and scarf "wog-
gle" and a similar award to Mert-
on Merrier, Scout Master; John
Talbot and Philip Turner (both
Cub sixers) the award of the First
Star, and to Cub Keith Smith, his
First Year Service Star,
Douglas Carswell introduced the
speaker, Scouter Lawrence May,
Assistant Regional Commissioner
for the Blue Water Region. The
topic was "Standards". Mr. •May
traced the need of standards to
build the pyramids of ancient Eg
ypt and the Greek Temples, thr-
ough to those standards used to-
day' in the automobile assembly
plants and the mathematical ac-
curacy of standards of measure-
ment needed to launch a satellite
in the space travel age, All this
was applied to the standards need-
ed to build the child from boy-
hood into the worthwhile citizen
—courage, endurance, determina-
tion, resolution, toughness of mor-
al fibre, and patience--and sought
the aid of all fathers and Scout
workers that such manhood may
arise from the Cubs and Scouts of
Bayfield.

in a sing song, assisted by Donald
Kingsbury at the piano.
Following the singing of 0 Can-
ada, the Cubs, under the direction
of Mrs, Robert Turner, Cubmaster,
and Mrs, Alfred Scotchmer, assis-
tant Cub master, and Scouts, Un-
der MertOn IVierner, Scout Master,
and Douglas Carswell, assistant
Scout Master, presented skits.
The evening of fellowship and
instruction closed with •the lower,
ing of the Union Jack and a brief
prayer.
The careful planning of the
Group Committee with the help
of the representatives from 'spon-
soring organizations was respons-
ible for the success of the even-
ing,
Programs on the official Scout
folder bearing the likness of Lard
Baden-Powell were provided by
the Rev, C. E. Peacock for this
occasion,

The Wilhelmine Mission Band
of Hohnesville United Church met
in the school for their February
meeting, with Mary Squires in
charge. The meeting opened with
the hymn "When Mothers of Sal-
em", followed by the Mission Band
purpose.
Scripture lesson was taken by
Donald Yeo and an article on
Peace was read by Karen Saddler.
John Ross gave a temperance
item. Linda McClinchey read a
prayer poem. The president,. Mar-
-ilyn Yea, conducted the business.
The leader, lVtrs, L. Bond, out-
lined the new project of recruiting
little "clean, up soldiers" to send
overseas. Musical genies and mem-
ory work were followed. by the
study books which were reviewed
by Mrs, Bond and Mrs, W. Nor-
man, The meeting closed with the
hymn "Little Drops bf Water" 'and
a benediction.
