afternoon at Clinton's first Minor
Hockey Day, in Clinton Lions Ar-
ena. each player will receive a
package of sandwiches and a choc-L
olate milk drink. This is through®
the generosity of Clinton busi-
nesses and ladies groups.

Three Capable Judges
For Saturday's
Minor Hockey Day •
The three judges who will pick
the "outstanding player" in -each
game and the "most valuable play-
er to his team" on "each team, are
all forther hockey players them-
selves.
From RCAF Station Clinton,
will be WO1 Hal Halvvard;
and from town are Fred Elliott
ana Harry IVIeEwari.
Mr, Elliott is a retired 'profes-
sional player who learned his
hockey in Clinton before minor
sport was oragnized as it is today:
He played junior in Owen Sound,
then spent many yq8.i% in the min-
or professional leagues and a sea-
son with Ottawa in the NHL.
The other town judge, Harry
"Cooney" MeEwari was a member
of one of Clinton's first sponsored
Minor hockey teams, the Lions
Juveniles of 1040 and 1041, which
went to the Ontario finals for two
years. Since then be has played
on district Senior and %termed.

Minor Hockey Day, being, held in conjunction..ipith Minor Hockey
Week in Canada (January 24-31), has arranged an extensive pro-
gram for Saturday,, January 31, commencing at 12 o'clock noon.
He has reecived the best of co-operation from all minor hockey
sponsoring groUps in Clinton and at the RCAF Station. Two
organizational meetings ha've been held.

players will be. made during the
afternoon. Winners will be picked
by a panel of three competent
judges. No player will receive
more than •one award. Presenta-
tions will be made after each gate
before the players leave the ice.

of up to eight year olds, L from

Game Club are giving a pair of
hockey gloves-to the "outstanding

when the RCAF Station All-Stars play the Clinton All-Stars, as part of Clinton's first
Minor Hockey Day program. An .all-star team will be picked from this league to play
in the Young Canada Hockey Week tournament at Goderich during Easter holidays.

Minor Hockey Week In Canada
WHEREAS, the week of January 24 to 31 is being observed throughout
Canada as a period to ,focus public attention, on the physical,
character-building and other benefits of hockey for our youth, and
WHEREAS the game of hockey is recognized as our truly Cdnadian sport
Which teaches our youth to develop a competitive spirit, co-
operation with others, body-building, and respect for authority, and
WHEREAS Minor Hockey is the foundation from which accomplished
hockey players develop, and
WHEREAS, Clinton district minor hockey officials are holding a "Minor
Hockey [Say", on Saturday, January 31,
NOW THEREFORE, I, as Mayor of the. Town of Clinton do hereby declare
the week January 24 to 81 be observed as
"MINOR HOCKEY WEEK IN CANADA"
and that Saturday, January 31 be
"MINOR HOCKEY -DAY IN .CLINTON"
and request that all parents and others encourage children to
participate in this great Canadian game.
