Clinton News-Record, 1958-12-31, Page 4Dr. and Mrs..J..E. Evans Death came within 24 hours of each other, to Dr. John Samuel Evans, and his wife, the former Annie. Gertrude Newcombe, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank McInnes, 447 Downie St., Stratford. Dr, Evans was a graduate of Ontario Veterinary College, Guel- ph, and practiced for many years in Clinton, leaving here four years ago, to go with his wife to reside with Mr, and" Mrs. McInnes. He was born in Bruce County, a son of the late Mr, and Mrs. Samuel Evans, 95 years ago. Mrs. Evans, who died on Satur- day, December 27, was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. H. A. Newcombe. She was born in Ire- land, 85 years ago,- Surviving are one son, Erskine Evans, St, Marys; three daugh- ters, Mrs. William (Ruth) Helm, Luckriow; Mrs. McInnes, Strat- ford, and Mrs. Ian (Grace) Mac- Leod, Dunvegan; nine grandchild- ren and five great grandchildren. Dr, Evans, who died on Sun, day, was the last member of his family. Mrs. Evans is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Millar, Ind- ian Head, Sask. Double funeral service was held from the Ball and Mutch funeral home, High' Street, Clinton, to Clinton Cemetery, on Tuesday af- ternoon, December 30. The Rev. W. S .MacLeod, St, John's United Church, Stratford, officiated, as- sisted by the Rev. Grant Mills, Ontario Street United Church, Clinton. Martin-Bailey Ernest Ellison Funeral service was held from the Beattie funeral home, Ratten- bury Street East, to Clinton Cemetery on Wednesday after- noon, December 31, for the late Ernest Ellison, who passed away in St. Marys Hospital, Kitchener, on December 28. Born in Clinton on December 10, 1901, he was the son of the late John Ellison and Sophia Be- zeau. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a family of three daughters: (Theresa) Mrs. Thomas Pryce, McKillop; (Mabel) Mrs. Percy Cole, Stratford; (Ella) Mrs, Geo- rge Munro, Seaforth; . and four. sons, Howard and. There were three visitors and eleven child- ret present. $10 will be sent to the Huron County Children's Aid Society and a Christmas party planned. It was largely attended in Baird's school on December 26. After the benediction, an ex- change of gifts was held. Orrin and Gerald sang a duet. Both 1 (By Goderich Township South Correspondent) At Christ Church, Arnherstburg on Saturday afternoon, December 27, Jean Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bailey, be- came the bride of Marwood A. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ash- ley martin. The Rev. D. S. Henry officiated. The bride wore a floor-length 'goren of white bouffant loveliness expressed in fine tulle frosted at the bodice with chantilly lace, sequins and pearls. The skirt was dramatized by alternating tiers of nylon tulle and lace. She car- ried a white prayer book with or- chids. The bride's attendants were Miss Audrey Imeson, as maid of honour in red taffeta and Miss Flanie Williams in green taffeta, in Harem style and matching white feathered hats and white flowers. The groom's attendants were Darvyin Wismer and Clayton Mar- tin. ,brother Of the groom. Ushers were the bride's brother Robert and the groom's brother, John. At the reception which follow- ed in the parish hall, the bride's mother wore teal,blue with rose accessories and Ms. Martin wore royal blue and a pink corsage. There were 125 guests. For travelling, the bride donned aqua silk faille sheath with blue cashmere coat and white orchid corsage. Guests were from Ohio, Detroit, Dearborn, T or ont o, Chatham, Windsor, and from BaYfield, the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James R.
