more fortunate than some of the
others, since they had three eager
young "runners" ready to take
messages, and bring back sand-
wiches and refreshments through-
out the long day. They were

Kinette Club Gives
Toward Swim Pool,
The Kinette Club of Clinton de-
cided to donate another $50.00 to
the Clinton Swimming Pool Fund
at their regular meeting on Tues-
day eveeing. This brings the Kin-
ette total toward the pool to $250.
Plans were made for the next
meeting, the last until September,
to be in the form of a social with
a pot-luck supper at the,home of
Mrs, Donald Kay.
Commencing in Sent-ember the
meetings will be held in Hotel
Clinton rather than in the mem-
bers' homes,
In an effort to raise money for
the club's activities, the Kinettes
will work on a money apron
scheme. After the meeting a
Dutch auction was held and lunch
sereed by the hostess, Mrs, Gor-
don Grigg.

returned after completing his first
year, one month course, at the

iversity of Toronto.
Frank Forest, Morley, Mich.,
spent a few days last week with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs, L. For-
est, RR 4, Clinton, Me. and Mrs.
Charles Marsden, Detroit, also
spent Sunday with the Forests,

Tuesday. for London, England, via
TCIA, after visiting here since Jan-
uary 18, with her Ion-in-law and

Local Guides At
Program hi
Maple Leaf Garden
Girl Guide Linda Jervis, Clinton,
and Girl Guide Kathy Brooks, Mit-
chell, attended a special Centen-
ary Celebration in Maple Gardens,
Toronto, on Saturday night in
honour of Lord Baden-Powell,
founder of the Scout and Guide
movements.
A pageant was presented by the
Guides, Brownies, Rangers and
Cadets of Metropolitan Toronto.
The Guides modelled uniforms
worn from the beginning of the
Guide movement until the present
day. They also showed the un-
iforms and flags of the 38 coun-
tries which will be represehted at
the Centenary camp being held at
Doe• Lake, Ontario in August, 1957,

Happy Doubles
At Weiner Roast
The Happy Doubles Citib of
Ontario Street United Church held
a weiner roast on Monday night
at the summer home of Mr. and
Mrs, George Colclough.
Highlights of the evening was
the presentation of a copper vase
to Rev. and Mrs. Glen tegle who
will be leaving for Sarnia in the
near future.
Constable John H. Wilson of the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police
spent the• weekend with histpar-
ents, Rev. and Mrs. Hugh C. Wil-
son at the Wesley Willis manse,
Constable Wilson is on his way
from Red Deer, Alta., to his Arc-
tic Station et Great White River,
Province of Quebec.
"Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hartley
have returned after a two week's
trip to the east coast, They at-
tended for four days the Canada
Life Conference held at the very
beautiful summer hotel, "Went-
worth-by-the-See" at Portsmouth,
N. H., after which they visited

Church Women's Missionary Soc-
iety . met Tuesday afternoon, with
Mrs. W. S. R. Holmes, president,
presiding,
The warship service was taken
by Mrs. Fear and Mrs. Milton.
Wiltse basing their remarks on
the "Home" and "Family Life"
Mrs. E. Radford played a piano
solo. Joan Johnston contributed a
coronet solo.
It was decided not to hold a.
meeting in July.
As a number of ehildr'en from
the Baby and Mission Band were
present Mrs. Eagle showed several
pictures and gave a little talk to
the children.
The Mission Band contributed
two choruses, Nancy Olde ac-
cornpanyieg them on the piano.
Nancy Schoenhals played two
numbers on the accordian, Den-
elda Freeman gave a reading.
A dainty helm was .served at
the close of the meeting.
Officials working ehroughout
the day on•Monday, report a quiet
election time. However, in Clin-
ton, it was an excellent turn-out.
Out of 1,640 eligible voters, 1,378
cast their ballots. • This is 84.5
percent, considerably more than
the national percentage of approx-
imately 71. percent,

took office at the regular meet-

Under an amendment to the
constitution of the organization
suggested by Mrs. Brightwell and
seconded by Mrs, Bohamos, this
executive will remain in office for
a full year, rather than six months
as in the past.
Mrs. Gilmore, president, called
the meeting of 22 members to
order. Mrs. Bruce and Mrs. Bo-
hamos will visit the Huron Coun-
ty Home on June 6, with baking
by Mrs. Shives and Mrs. Ranseme.
On June 20 visitors will be Mrs.
Lee and Mrs. Rowland with bak-
ing by Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Gau-
det. Visitors for July and August
also were arranged for.
As the bake' sale on June 1 was
successful the Auxiliary voted to
supply the Clinton Public Hosp-
ital with a Patient's Helper, also
a toaster, and $80 was set aside
for these.
Guide and Brownie leaders will
be needed in September.
Mrs. Brightwell moved that the
Auxiliary held its September
meeting in the Bamboo Room in
the Social Centre. en the Station,
and this was seconded by Mrs.
Dale King. -Mrs, Barnett had ob-
tained permission for the use of
this room.

was held at ,the home of Mrs,
George Watt on May 2$, with 30
members present and four visitors.
Mrs, Roe opened the wivls
meeting with a hymn followed by
a peper on "Horne Theme," Mrs.
Ernest ,Knox read the Scripture
followed with prayer by Mrs. Roe.
Missionary reports were given
from different places by Mrs,
Viva McGregor on Newfoundland.
Mrs. Les Reid on Montreal, Que-
bec; Mrs. Jack McrEwing on York-
ton, Sask.; Mrs, William Trewle
and Mrs. George Watt on British
Columbia. Study Book chapter on
Malaya, was given by Mrs. Roe,
Mrs. J. T. White, president, took
over the business part. Thank you
notes were read from Mrs. Neil-
arts, Marjorie IVfeEWing and Mrs.
Robert Watson. It was decided
to send the bale to Norway House.
Bring articles to the June meeting
for the bale to Korea.
A lovely reading was given by
Mrs. Harvey Taylor on "Heaven."
Mrs. Viva McGregor gave a read-
ing on "What is Christianship?"
The meeting closed with a solo by
Dianne Roe and prayer by Mrs.
White,
At the WA meeting Mrs. John
Riley, presided. Mrs. George Watt
will get the paint for the new
fence at the church and volunteers
to paint.
Eeach group will be responsible
for flowers for the church. Group
1 for June. There was $11.50 tak-
en in for auction baskets in April.
A five cent collection was taken for
the gift fund. Mrs. Eddie Bell
auctioned off the'articles for auc-
tion basket.

The Tuekerernith Ladies' Club
met at the home of Mrs. Ed, Lay-
ton on June 5, 'with 14 members,
two visitors and six ehildren pres-
ent,
It was decided that the July
picnic will be held in Bayfield.
After the reports and discussions
a contest given by Mrs, Frank
Walters was won by Mrs. Milton
Dale. Readings were given, by
Mrs. Bert Garrett and Mrs, Ed.
Layton, There was a contest con-
ducted by Mrs. Irvin Sillery and
Mrs. William Rogerson.
The meeting closed with the
homemaker's prayer followed by
lunch served by group three.

5. The bride is Marion Patricia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Hull, Brussels, and formerly employed at the Clinton Public Hos-
