Bert Pepper (left) and his young sister Carol of RR 3, Sea-
forth, had a special guest -with them recently in the person of
Ron Farquharson, a young Scottish farmer on exchange visit to
Ontario. They are pictured in front of the Protestant Chapel. at
RCAF Station Clinton, where Carol has for the past several
weeks been organist. She also competed at Goderich in the
County Music Festival, and tied for first place and the coveted
Rose Bowl award' offered for the piano classes,

goes to Toronto where he has tak-
en a post with the Canadian Gen-
eral Electric Co. Ltd`,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas. Arkell,
Joanne and Kenny, Birlington,
were with his' parents, Ur. and
Mrs. F. P, Arkell over the week-
end, and on Mother's Day, the
other members of the family,
Kenneth Arkell at present with'
-his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Saeger, Ricky and Clare, Gorier-
ich; Mr. and, Mrs. Robert Turner,
Gail and Phillip, •gathered around
the family board.
The "Little Inn" was gay with
flowers, 'for a 'dinner bridge, on
Monday evening, prior to its: ras-
opening on Saturday, May 18,

80th Birthday
On Sunday, Mrs. William R.
Jowett, Goderich, was the guest
of honour at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. LeRoy Poth in celebration of
her birthday. Mrs. Poth held a
family dinner for her mother.
Present for this enjoyable occas-
ion were Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Ken-
dall', Amy Grace, Jane and John,
Elmira; Mrs. J. W. Jowett and
Ronald Poth, Bayfield. •
Trinity Guild
Trinity Church Guild met in the
'parish' hall on Tuesday evening,
when the members entertained
ladies from St. John's Church,
Varna. Mrs. Percy Weston con-
ducted the opening exercises and
presided for the business session.
Repoits 'were heard from Mrs,
Merton Merrier, secretary, Mrs,
Fred Weston, treasurer,
Plans were made for serving re-
freshments in the parish hall fol-
lowing the induction of the Vey.

May 24.
The rector told the group that
the Centennial Pilgrimage which
it was planned to hold here jn.
June had been postponed until
later in the summer owing to the,
change of incumbent. Mr. Harris=
ton closed the meeting with pray-
er.
Court whist was played. Mrs.
3. M. Stewart won a prize for high
score and Miss Berthena Stur-
geon, low. Lunch was served' by
Guild members at the close of the
play.

Attend Meeting
The May meeting of the Willing
Workers of St. Andrew's 'United
Church was held at the home of
Mrs. Edgar Rathwell. The presi-
dent, Mrs, Grant Stirling, chose
"Forgiveness" as her topic. Rev.
P. Renner led in prayer Mrs. Fred
Wallis read "A Little Parable for
Mother."
The minutes of the AIpril meet-
ing were read by Mrs. Edgar
Rathwell and adopted. Roll call
showed 16 members present, Mrs.
Robert Blair read the treasurer's
report. Mrs, Kenneth Brandon
read, the flower and card report.

of Mrs. Grant Turner. Any help
on it would be greatly appreeia-
ted.
Mrs. Renner will announce the
place of the next meeting on the
previous Sunday, June 9.

Street and Fred Watson, Stanley
Township clerk, has' bought the
house on the corner of Victoria
Place and Catherine Street from
William H Johnston.
The Gideons visited 'Bayfield
School earlier in the year and
gave the pupils in Grades
each a nein' testament and Book
of Psalms.. This week they placed
in the schgol Bibles for the pupils
use in responsive reading.

Gerry and Brian, Stratford, visi-
ted their father, 1-Tarold Brandon,
on Sunday. Also home from their
Morley Taylor, Sarnia, spent
the weekend with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Taylor.

Walkerton, visited the lady's
mother, ' Mrs.- W. H. Pepper, on
Mother's Day.
Brian, son of Mr. and Mrs. D,
Triebner, was operated on in Clin-
ton Public Hospital, for an infec-
tion in his leg,
Mrs. James Streifler (nee Lois
Moffatt) and small daughter
Cdrol Anne, Downey, Calif., are
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Moffatt.
WA Meeting
Mrs. Fred Rathwell and Mrs.
John Mkenhead had charge of the
devotional exercises opening the
Woman's Association meeting held
in the church last Tuesday, Mrs.
Aikenhead chose as her topic,
"Self Sacrifice."
President, Mrs. John Broadfoot
was in charge for the business
section. Mrs. W. McB,eath gave
the secretary's report, and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Edgar Allan, In the absence

It was decided to send $10 to
the C.N.LB, and $10 to the flower
fund. June being the time for the
annual ,visitors day, invitations
will be sent to Goshen,Varna
and Kippen Societies to e guests
of the Brucefield WA on June 4:
All the ladies of the village and
community are invited. Group
leaders will he in charge of the
lunch and the program committee
will take charge of the program.
Those taking part in the Moth-
er's Day program were Mrs,
Cairns, Mrs, G. Armstrong, Mrs,
H. Dalrymple, Mrs. W. Fathering-
ham and Mrs. Edgar Allan,
'Group two had a baking sale,
and served a dainty lunch.

Miss Mildred, Fraser, a bride-
elect or Saturday, was honoured
at a miscellaneous shower held at
the home of Mrs. Keith Brandon,
on Friday evening, Mrs. John
Lindsay assisted Mrs. Brandon
and the affair was arranged so
that it was a complete surprise
for Mildred,
Mrs, Peter Renner conducted
contests and guessing games
which were greatly enjoyed by all
the ladies,'
Seated in the bride's chair,- dec-
orated in 'pink with whitearibbons,
Miss Fraser heard an address read
by Miss Joan McLeod, and re,
ceived from Mrs. Lloyd Makins
and Mrs. Lloyd Sentehmer a cloth-
es basket (done in pink and
white) full of gifts from those
present, As Mildred opened the
gifts one of the guests tied the
ribbons on a hanger, after which
the bride-to-be expressed her
thanks quite charmingly for the
beautiful presents. showered on
her. The hostess served a dainty
luncheon before a very happy
evening came to a close.

For a quiet wedding on Satur-
dal, afternoon, May 11, 1967, Cal-
la lilies and white stocks graced
the altar at St. Mark's Chapel,'
Wolsley Barracks, London,
Captain, the Reverend D. A,
Monroe officiated at •the 'double-
ring ceremony, when Barbara Jean,
daughter of Mrs. Robert L. Bas-
sett, Bayfield, became the bride of
Donald Albert Matthews, son of
Mr. and Mrs.- D: A. Matthews,
Belleville-.
The bride wore a street-length
sheath dress of pale blue silk lin-
en, with white hat and accessor-
ies, and a corsage of white carna-
tions.
She was attended by Miss' Mar-
garet Brown, London, attired in
a pale binge suit with, white ac-
cessories. Her corsage was of
pink carnations.
