The lovely, Modern two-room public school at Hayfield, Which has been in use by the children for some Months, was officially'
opened last 'Wednesday afternbore The building is located on the sane site as was the old'echool, and the' ancient building was torn
down to provide playground Space for the students. Teachers at the school are Mrs. LeRoy Path, principal, and in charge of the senior
room', and Mrs,. WeParker, instructer in the junior room.

anied from Elmvale by her son-
in-levi and. daughter, Mr, and
Mrs. Fred Ritchie, who spent the

Sergeant Robert Sibbert, wife
and three children, who have just
returned from a tour of duty in
Germany, are occupying -Jowett

G. H. Macdonald and two sons are

Scoutmaster George Simons
took the eight invested Scouts
of his troop to the Camporee
near Forester's Bridge over the
weekend, They were Stephen,
Howard and Ronald Scotchmer,
Gerald Wallis, Dick Heard, Philip
Gemeinhardt, David Corrie, and
Ted Turner,
There were about 125 Scouts
present. The Hayfield. group was
plaseed as a' "C" Patrol end
District Commissioner L. G. Win-
ter complimented the boys . on
their progress and aecomplishn
ments. They did the best amongst
the youngest troops.
Mr.. and Mrs. Stuart Sturgeon,
Preston, accompanied by the Tat-
ter's parents,. Mr. and Mrs. Bern-
ard Davis; who arrived in Mont-
real on May. 28, - from Surrey,
England; visited Stuart's parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Ed Sturgeon over
the 'weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Deis
are spending a six week's vacat-
ion' with their daughter.

the summer. , Mrs. Alfred :McAlis-
ter, Blind-River, is also visiting
her husband's parents, Magistrate
and Mrs, F. G. McAlister, while
he is attending the Conference of
the United Church being held in
London.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs,
Charles Upshell (formerly Miss
Reta Tippet, Hayfield) in the
death of 'her husband. Mrs. E. A.

Mrs. 'William Sturgeon receiv-
ed word last week of the death
of her brother, Orton Wallis,
who succumbed suddenly in Al-
vinston on the evening of May

and Mrs, M. Rozell to Alvinston
the next evening. Mrs, Sturgeon
remaind for the funeral on May
31. She also visited her brother
Fred at Rodney, who is seriously
ill. A niece an d her hus-

man, Rodney, motored to the
village with Mrs. Sturgeon on
Sunday. •

teachers they toured the new
County Court House in Goderich,
where both they and, those who
accompanied them, found much to
admire and of great interest.
Mrs. LeRoy Poth took her car
and those who assisted in trans-
porting 'the pupils of the senior
room included: Mrs. Charles
Scotchrner, Mrs, M. Carrie, Mrs.
F. Weston, Mrs.. Robert Blair,Mrs.
John Lindsay, Mrs, Grant Turner.
Those who took the pupils of
the Jupior room with. their teach-
er, Mrs. William Parker, were:

They left at nine o'clock and so
were taken 'by a guide through
the new building before too many
children from other schools arrive
ed. The tour was well organized
and the Hayfield pupils were in
charge of the adults with whom
they went.
Trinity Guild
Mrs. J. -M. Stewart was hostess
for the Meeting of Trinity Church
Guild at her home on Monday ev-
enirig.,
Mrs. Percy Weston, president,
conducted the opening exercises
and presided for the business ses-
sion.
The Guild has purchased a num-
ber of new hymn, books which,
upon application to the president,
may be purchased and placed in
the church as memorials. Inscrip-
tion platenfor this purpose will be
supplied with the books.
Mrs. Gairdner reported that she
was continuing to receive sub-
scriptions for the Parish Hall.
