This leaves a total of $552.53 in the chest for next week's draw. ,• The weekly event is staged by participating merchants in apprec- iation of shopping done in their stores each week. With every purchase, shoppers in these partic- ular stores, are given a coupon, punched for a particular percent- age of the chest. Each week these coupons are collected from the stores, where they have been sign- ed-by the shoppers, and deposited in one large drum. Each week, this large drum is taken to the library park where, perched on top of a truck donated for the purpose by Ball and Mutch furniture, the draw is made by Emcee. Bob Campbell, assisted by eager children from the audience. The announcing, of winners, along with other important news of the day, is done over a loudspeaker set-up loaned and serviced by Mer- rill Radio and Electric. If the owner of a coupon drawn is not present, then the coupon is returned to the drum and another draw is made, until a winner is found. • 0 Legionaires Burn Mortgage On Hall With Ceremony The swish of the kilt and the lilt of bagpipes last Friday night marked the occasion of the "burn- ing of the mortgage" on the new Legion Memorial Hall on • Kirk Street, by an assembled gathering of members of the branch and of the Ladies Auxiliary.
