Patterson, returned missionary
from India, outlined the history
of the church in India from 1917
to the present and 'emphasized the
advance made in education, teach-
er training, --medicine and evange-
lism, She credited women's miss-
ionary organizations-with bringing
the church. into. being, in India
through their financial assistance
and their prayers,
The -Rev. Carl Drug, Bluevale,
in addressing the meeting stated,
"If the church is to meet the chal-
lenge., it faces today it will be
through the efforts of consecrated

Varna 'United Church WOman's
Missionary' Society met at ' the
home of Mrs. Percy Johnston, on
April 5, with 18 members and one
visitor present,
Mrs. Watson Webster had ehar-
ge of the worship service. The
meeting opened with quiet music..
The hymn, "God of Mercy, God of
Grace," was read in unison, fol-
lowed by the "Lord's Prayer."
Mrs. T. J. 'Pitt took charge, of
the business. The minutes of the
last meeting were. read and adop-
ted. There were 21 calls to shut-
ins. Mrs. Pitt and Mrs. Anson
Coleman are to look after the
sending of the Baby layette. Mrs.
Watson Webster and Mrs,' Anson
Coleman were appointed delegates
to the Presbyterial at Exeter, A
discussion was held in regard to
entertaining other Societies.
The Scripture' reading was taken
by Mrs. Elmer Webster. Mrs.
Watson Webster read..- from 'the
Missionary Monthly, The Study
Book was taken by Mrs. Watson
Webster and Mrs. Harvey Hayter.
Mrs. Pitt closed the meeting
with the benediction.
